Pistons sign T-Mac

Per DraftExpress:

Tracy McGrady has been signed by the Detroit Pistons to a one year
minimum contract, a source close to the situation tells DraftExpress.

UPDATE ------
(separate sources around the web are saying that this is likely or in discussions rather than a done deal).

Nice.   My dream of McGrady going to a team we play four times a season has been realized.   Now if only he can get minutes.

  • with gordon, stucky, and bynum at 1 and 2 guard; prince and austin dayes at sf, and rip at sg/sf they really REALLY needed tmac.

  • why does everyone claim dumars is a good gm?

6 straight ecf appearances, 2 finals and a title kinda are self explanatory. How many teams in recent history have made 6 straight conference finals, especially without a superstar.

T-Mac is a has been who never won even when healthy. Everybody get over him already. Ronnie Brewer's defense will easily neutralize T-Mac. I hope T-Mac does get significant minutes when Detroit plays the Bulls, because it means Bulls win.

Not IS, WAS a good GM. He did great putting together that team but has been putrid ever since starting with the Darko pick. The 6 ECF appearances and 2 Finals were on cruise control after the core of Chauncey, Rip, Ben, Tayshaun and Rasheed were in place as evidenced by their tendency to coast during the regular season and "turn it on" during the playoffs. With all their success they should have won more. They were the basketball version of the '90s Atlanta Braves.

I've hardly seen Brewer play at all. I'll be interested to see other then his high per minutes steals total just how good his one on one defense really is on premier guys like Wade. Hopefully it will be good, and improve overall with his team defense under Thib's. If he does prove to be a defensive stopper who can cover the big boys(Wade etc.) that will be huge.
