Source close to me says Bulls have Boozer if they want him

I've been told the meeting between the Bulls and Boozer went well and that the Bulls have Carlos Boozer locked up if they want him.   Whether they move forward will be based on the results of their meetings with Bosh and Lee tonight and whether they want to enter their meeting with LeBron with Boozer or Lee locked up for sure to enter with a shot at Bosh still.

It's also possible [my own theorizing] that they could go into the meeting with Boozer virtually locked up and present their team to LeBron based on different contingencies.

I throw this out there with the typical "grain of salt" caveat.   When news filters down to a small time reporter like me you should always be suspicious, so let's not go nuts with the "Doug said this and Doug wouldn't lie".

No, I wouldn't lie, but we've all played "telephone" and I'm not talking to Boozer or Gar Forman here, so you never know how this stuff can alter as it gets filtered by the time it reaches me.

  • I say GO FOR iT! Bosh is basically telling us he's going to Miami with his stupid twitter crap. I say take Boozer and go to LeBron tomorrow and tell him that its going to be Derrick Rose, Joakim Noan, Carlos Boozer, and Taj Gibson vs. Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade and a bunch of nobodies. We have a good team and we can win it all if you come join us. It's as simple as that! Let's Go!!!!!

  • Even without sources, this seems like a fairly logical conclusion. Chicago would have to be an incredibly desirable spot for Boozer with or without James.

  • Agreed...I want Bosh or Lee though.

  • In reply to mdot1986:

    I think that next year
    Bosh>Boozer>Lee
but in perhaps as few as 2 years lee overtakes boozer
his past injury problems just scare me too much

Also, someone correct me if I am wrong, but if we sign lee cant we then also sign james without making another move?
    Something untrue of signing boozer?

  • In reply to Daniel7123:

We could probably get Lee for less, but given that he plays no defense I'm not sure we take him.

  • In reply to Vedo:

boozer isn't exactly a defensive stud either
he lacks the quickness or leaping ability to guard most 4s
he does however provide the wide body that the bulls lack

the real reason I shy away from him though is as I said because I don't think he will (due to injury and age) be playing at a high level anymore by the end of the contract.

Hopefully lee can play D, the move from the d'antoni system to the tibs system might help that
    though I am not convinced

Ultimately I think that bosh is a step above these guys but due to lees age, if they can't get bosh he is the guy to take

    ESPN 1000 reporting:

Dwayne Wade is scheduling a 2nd interview with the Bulls today. I don't know why, but they did say the meeting went well yesterday.

  • In reply to Vedo:

This is odd, very odd. I thought he we set to go back to the heat. Is he just messing around with them?

  • In reply to Vedo:

Doug, thanks for the update. Any reaction to the report on Hoopsworld that the Bulls are threatening to pull their offer to LBJ if he doesn't sign soon? I can't imagine that there's truth to this but if they're even considering doing that, it would be a tragic mistake IMO.

  • In reply to Rieges:

Huh? If they haven't talked to him yet how can they have given him an offer?

  • In reply to mdot1986:

I'm not sure if he meant pull the offer or pull out of the running for LBJ. I don't buy it either way.

  • In reply to mdot1986:

I predict that we will get a Mr. Happy post, and he will talk about his predictions of Wade coming here and telling us all to suck it.

  • In reply to mdot1986:

If Wade wants to talk again, I say talk to him but after they talk to Learn. Don't let Wade pull a Booze how he did Cleveland a few years back.

  • In reply to Reese1:

    i agree

  • In reply to Vedo:

He may be pulling a Boozer move on Miami tho! That would suck for Riley after they did all that chopping for Wade. Wow way to stick it to Riley! If that's true of course...

  • In reply to Vedo:

Apparently they are looking to pair up Wade and Lebron and lockout Bosh!
    http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-wadelebronbulls072010
I get the feeling Wade is pulling wool over our eyes.

  • In reply to Vedo:

One scenario that was thrown out there on the radio:

News has been reported that Bulls may be trying to trade Loul Deng &James Johnson for a "serviceable" C and $. Could the "dream team" be being built in Chicago? Rose, Wade, Lebron, Noah, ?

    That is intriguing!!

  • In reply to mdot1986:

Yep Adrian is reporting this from Yahoo. I thought everyone was avoiding Deng's contract like the plague!

  • In reply to claytonabigsby:

nah not anymore...you see what Rudy Gay was paid. I knew we would have some people looking for Deng. If he could stay healthy he would be a pretty good SF. 18ppg and 7reb y not?

  • In reply to claytonabigsby:

Give the Bulls credit, they are pulling out all the stops quietly.

  • In reply to claytonabigsby:

I like how the Bulls are operating...doing the grunt work rather than having interviews with ESPN..
Hopefully there is nothing insidious to this again....
It might also be Wade just wanting to push Riley to make quick decisions rather than wait for him to sign first..

  • In reply to claytonabigsby:

The Lebron/Bulls meeting will now be happening FIRST tommorow! They may be planning to meet with him with Wade already committed!!!!

    Wow...

  • In reply to mdot1986:

    you got a link?

  • In reply to mdot1986:

Will Christmas come early for Bulls fans???

    The mind reels...

  • In reply to mdot1986:

omg waht the heck is about to happen here lol GET IT DONE WHATEVER YOUR GETTING DONE BULLS!!! WOOOOOOO!!!!!!

  • In reply to mdot1986:

I'm not worried about the Bulls meeting with Wade twice in 24 hours. The Bulls have a Sat meeting with Lebron set and who they meet with in between that time doesn't affect the James meeting.

  • In reply to mdot1986:

I SAW CARLOS BOOZER AT THE UNITED CENTER TODAY!!!!

  • In reply to mdot1986:

I still think Wade is messing with us, what center is out there that the bulls would want to trade Deng for? Amare? Rose, Wade, James, Noah and Amare? I still have a hard time fathoming wade going to chicago. I would rather have Lee than Boozer, he always disappers in the play-offs and is small for his position

  • In reply to Snypershawn:

I agree that I would rather have Lee than Boozer. But that's only because he's younger and I believe less prone to injury. Right now Boozer is the better player...but as long as we have Lebron we don't need the best PF/C just a solid one. Give me Lee and Lebron and we will book a date with LA in next year's Finals!!

  • In reply to Reese1:

Would rather have Boozer than Bosh.

Bosh is bad, bad news. I'd be disappointed if Bosh joined the Bulls. There is something seriously wrong with that guy.

  • In reply to Reese1:

After Carlos Boozer left Cleveland famously for the Jazz after promising to resign, I doubt Lebron would play with him now on any team if he has to be reminded daily of the possible reason he had to leave Cleveland in the first place. I am certain if Carlos Boozer had remained in Cleveland with Lebron they would have won at least one title. I hope the Bulls do not even bring up Boozer's name in their meeting with James. Give me David Lee under the tutelage of Thibodeau if Bosh is out of the picture, as he has true grit and is actually 6'9" unlike the undersized Boozer who is actually closer to 6'7" and disappears against bigger 4's in the playoffs like this past season against the Lakers. Plus, Lee is faster on the break and has longer range on his jumpshot, and Lebron probably does not detest him.To seel the Bulls to Lebron, they should tell him if he is "The Chosen One", that must mean he was chosen to take Jordan's spot on the Bulls roster, SG. Lebron can play the SG position as he does mostly anyway and create the most dominating backcourt ever. His length on defense will allow him to roam as he does best and create havock on the wing, as his athleticism can allow him to close out on shooters.

  • In reply to Reese1:

There are reports saying the Raptors like some pieces the Cavs would give in a S&T for Bosh. Once again, it's not looking good for the Bulls. UGGGGGHH I can't wait until this is over!

  • In reply to mdot1986:

Excuse my typing. Bulls should talk to Wade after Learn

  • In reply to mdot1986:

After Lebron. I'm having computer problems

  • In reply to Vedo:

I just heard that too!! I hate this! Don't want to talk to him twice before we talk to Lebron.

One of two things: his "dream team" is falling through as Lebron may have indirectly made it clear to Riley he didn't want to sign with Miami and is tryna sign with the Bulls before Lebron. Or he is trying to foil bulls planned meetings to waist their time and hinder them from signing a big.

  • In reply to Vedo:

I am concerned about this. I am sure LeBron will ask whom do you want to be your main guy???LeBron or Wade?
Offcourse, they will say LeBron...but why are they wasting time with Wade? I just don't trust what is going on Wade...unless he knows something from Bosh/LeBron about Miami..and he is getting scared.

  • In reply to schaumburgfan:

I feel you man, this is crazy and too good to be true. I'm not even sure anyone confirmed all this so it may not even be possible. I'll tell you right now I wouldn't be surprised to see a S&T with Noah and Deng going somewhere. We shall see by tomorrow.
