Homer conspiracy theory: Players waiting for cap number to sign with Bulls

I'm going to throw this out there as a quick conspiracy theory.   While no one is leaking this information, it's possible that Wade/Bosh or LeBron/Bosh are waiting for Wednesday to see where the salary cap number falls.

Why is that important?
A number around 57 million gives the Bulls two maxes without moving Loul Deng.   A number of 56.5 million gives them 2 maxes if one guy comes in a S&T.

The number might make a large difference in the type of package the Bulls can put together in terms of luring multiple players.

  • That makes sense. They're definitely waiting for a good reason outside of their control. The longer Wade, LeBron, et al stretch this out, the worse it looks for their reputation. Watching/reading about all these awkward charity events in Miami and Akron is brutal.

  • That's not a bad theory. It makes sense in a way because Chicago/Nets are the only two teams kind of close to 2 maxes. Knicks/Miami had space for 2 maxes...and if any two of these wanted to go there...they would have done it by now.
Also, probably LeBron wants to go somewhere(Chicago) but is getting a lot of pressure from his team to stay in Cleveland and are trying to desperately trade/recruit Bosh.
Frankly, I don't know what Miami is doing. Are they just planning on Bosh and Toronto to finally accept their offer?

  • Where do you see the salary cap comes out tomorrow?

  • i said the same exact thing Doug in the Bosh wanting the 6 year post!

    great minds think alike.

and Kaplan heard from a Portland radio about the potential Deng for Pryz and Bayless on his twitter

    http://twitter.com/thekapman

  • In reply to ChardBull85:

I still think LeBron agreed with the Bulls on Saturday, the news hasn't come out yet. Cause of the camp, salary cap and other things. The Bulls have been way too under the radar, something is up.

  • In reply to gibby6385:

I agree with gibby. I mean, come on we would be desperate right now if we didn't have something in the works already. I think we should be patient for 2 more days and we'll see what happens. We've come this far guys. lol

  • In reply to Vedo:

exactly we could have jumped on sooo many scenarios.

    Joe Johnson-passed
    Stoudemire-passed (long time ago)
    Boozer-passed

something is ready to happen on the 8th when money will be solid figures and people can sign

only worry is Bron trying to convince Bosh supposedly. if true.

  • Had to go out of town for a little BUSINESS..hint-hint.

It's time EVERYONE gets off the LBJ bandwagon and starts RESPECTING Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

    Believe me on this one.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

Exactly what do you know Senor Happy?

  • In reply to MrHappy:

    PAY ATTENTION:

The NBA is about one thing and one thing only...WINNING!!!

PG - Rose, SG - Wade, SF - Deng, PF - Bosh, C - Noah

That's a championship starting lineup. Get over the infactuation with LeBron James and his IMMATURE POSSE' and start RESPECTING Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

Let's not forget that Dwyane Wade would most likely bring with him some of the other Miami Heat reserves. That makes for a strong STARTING LINEUP and BENCH.

Get on board with this plan or go root for a different NBA team!!!

The Chicago Bulls want to win championships, not be MEDIOCRE or deal with IMMATURITY.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

I would respectfully point out that to many NBA players the league is about one thing only...MONEY. That said, I hope your scenario plays out.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

Mr happy, thanks for your opinion, however Idont think it is exactly justified. Yes! That is a beautiful lineup, one of championship caliber. But what is bad about Lebron coming here? I mean the guy clearly has the most talent. Yes he hasnt won a championship, but Wade won his first when he was 24. Jordan was 27. Lebron is 25. Bosh hasnt won one. By using age alone, using are saying that wade is better than Jordan. And there is no way I will believe that.

I believe that you add any 1 of these guys. Whether it is Bosh/Wade/James, this team WILL be a contender immediately.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

"Get on board with this plan or go root for a different NBA team!!!"

Really? This statement right here is why people hate your guts with a passion....idiot.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

oneal and beasley is a bad itch that does not go away. If I wear utah, I would want nothing to do with them! Boozer is not getting signed with the bulls. Because they know something we don't. I think bosh is coming to town with sign and trade with noah. Sux but I think that is wats going down. With that said Wade will follow right along.

  • In reply to vinmotors:

I think the appeal for the Bulls is teaming Bosh with Noah. I seriously doubt they'd let go of Jo. But you never know...

  • In reply to thegreatlie:

And Bosh knows his life would be easier if Noah is around.

  • In reply to thegreatlie:

bosh doesnt play defense and noah does have offense they complement one another well. I am torn with trading noah for bosh. we know defense wins championships... i dont know thats a tough one. would rather taj, picks and trade exceptions if we could.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

Hopefully your right...they need to know what they exactly are going to be making before they sign. Plus the Bulls are way to under the radar right now....something has to be up...if they mess this up, all the fans will go nuts lol IMO if we dont have anything going on right now....go get Boozer, he can help recruit for us. And somebody will be left out in the big 3 (Bron, wade,Bosh)

  • In reply to MrHappy:

yea, all 2 of them that we don't have cap space for.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

In as much as I get annoyed by Happy's coarseness, I think this is a strong possibility, given what I've been reading and hearing. LeBron stays and Wade/Bosh is a package deal. What makes the decision for the two is are they willing to give up their 30mil to play for a team they want, which is Chicago.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

    Doug,
Your information about teams/agents/players all needing to wait for the final salary cap number before deals can be struck is the first intelligent fact I've heard in days. Please post the cap number as soon as Coon or someone else makes it available.
    GREAT WORK and THANK YOU!
    Edward

  • In reply to MrHappy:

Ummmmmmmm.....what does the annual McDonald's Assistant Manager Convention have to do with free agency? Anyone?

  • In reply to evilhoban:

this sounds like the most accurate inside info ever with regard to Mr Happy.

  • In reply to evilhoban:

    Hilarious.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

It's certainly a game changer for us if we can afford two max contracts without having to work out a Deng deal (and even better if we can also do it without having to give up Taj).

I think it's probably just a coincidence with LeBron's camp going on, but it's a happy coincidence that might work out in our favor.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

The sign and trade angle is interesting. I wonder how much it would cost to bribe the accountants and/or Stern to get to $57 Mil so we can sign two max's??

Seriosuly though I'd still prefer to have Boozer signed right now if we can't get Bosh. While I'd rather have Bosh, keeping Taj would be huge. Bosh may very well not be able to go to Miami in a sign and trade. So Wade is left with..? Perhaps no other option except coming to the Chicago Bulls.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

The sports radio here is saying that the bulls can offer boozer 13.7 mil and still afford a max player.... and that boozers people said they would accept that but nothings happening and they don't know why....

They are also saying that maimi wants to give them (utah) a sign and trade for Oneal and Beasley

  • would this have to mean that we have a FA in line (a certain SF)?

  • Larry Coon tweeted that he'd have that information tomorrow.

  • Doug,

You doubt Dwyane Wade in general.

I suggest you get over your infactuation with LeBron James and his band of IMMATURE POSSE' members. Pro sports is about winning championships. Wade and Bosh can get the Bulls back on top. LBJ, who hasn't won a thing since high school, can't, nor can his IMMATURE friends.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

and Bosh is dragging his knuckles on the ground because his hands are weighed down by all that jewelry

  • In reply to MrHappy:

bosh is the golden egg. whoever lands him. Wade and Bron bron will be knocking....................

  • In reply to vinmotors:

PACMAN, I think you just came up with Bosh's Chicago nickname. LOL

Chris Bosh = The Golden Egg...

  • In reply to vinmotors:

The best thing that could happen from the Bulls perspective is for Bosh to go to a Western conference team that is over the cap in an S&T(Houston, Mavs, Lakers, Portland)

This would virtually guarantee that Wade and Lebron have nowhere else to go but the Bulls, it would just be a matter of moving Deng to make it work.

I prefer Wade and Lebron to either one of them and Bosh.

Rose, Wade and Lebron with a front line rotation of Noah, Taj and Asik, fill in the blanks after that, add a mid level guy the next couple of years and let the new dynasty roll

  • In reply to vinmotors:

this is gettin to be ridiculous

  • In reply to vinmotors:

supposedly dwade is still recuiting for miami. so much for bein torn... we gettin shut out. or we can get use to hearing david lee. the guy aint a bum tho

  • In reply to vinmotors:

Screw Broussard,Tom Penn,Chris Sheridan,Steven A Smith, puggy Cleveland writer. I love how tight lipped the Bulls are, make all these "media guys" look really dumb come Thursday morning.

  • In reply to vinmotors:

I need to preface this comment with the statement that Luol Deng was my least favorite player to watch last year. Okay....SECOND least favorite (Pargo). The question I've been pondering lately is:

LeBron + mid-level scrub at sg > Wade + Deng????

I only bring this up because I think Thibodeau could bring out the best in Deng by not only improving his D, but getting him out of his bad offensive habits (*cough* long jump-shot early in the shot clock *cough*). While I couldn't staaaaaaand Deng last year, I can see him flourish with TT's outlook and system.

    Wash?!

  • In reply to vinmotors:

You would think that the Bulls think they are getting Bosh. It's the only rationale explanation for why they are not signing Boozer if he's willing to comitt. I swear if I hear one more story that Boozer is ready to commit to the Bulls, and we don't sign him. Man.

If they trade Noah for Bosh then they are losing a huge piece of the puzzle to gain another. If they have guaruntees to get Bosh and subsequently Wade then you'd have to do it I guess. Otherwise unless that is the case there is no way I trade Noah for Bosh alone.

Please someone sign Boozer so we can keep Noah and Taj. Then Bosh probably does not go to Miami the cap comes in at $57 Mil do the insane playoff revenues, and we get Wade too.

  • In reply to vinmotors:

Drose really dont want to play with LBJ? rumors are crazy

  • In reply to vinmotors:

Yeah, I think we need to prepare ourselves to be shut out from the big three FA's.. and that's ok! Miami has nothing on their roster outside of Wade (and possibly Bosh), and Cleveland has no real way of improving much.. we will hopefully grab Boozer or Lee, and my hope is that we also get a SG (Redick?). We will compete with those teams, and Rose and Noah should get even better.

  • In reply to vinmotors:

Rich Bucher proves even more he really knows nothing. His latest tweet.

"All this talk of multiple titles for Chi = Trail Blazers 2 yrs ago. How did that work out? Titles/Ws aren't guaranteed. The $ is."

  • In reply to gibby6385:

Bucher has been all over the map with his comments.. Broussard may not be the best, but at least he's been pretty consistent for the most part with his opinion.

  • In reply to vinmotors:

Here is what I find interesting from all this brouhaha around Lebron; that you are hearing next to nothing from Bulls(aside from potential Deng trades and Noah's extension). Leaks coming out from all the other pretenders. Not sure if that is a good sign. Have they given up hope of signing any of the big three or are the quietly confident of signing Lebron or Wade?

  • In reply to claytonabigsby:

Very Confident. Boozer would already be signed by now.

  • In reply to claytonabigsby:

It seems to me that the Bulls decided early on that they would be the grown ups in all of this.. from the presentation to Lebron, to the quiet meeting with Boozer, etc.. everything has been very business-like. They haven't drawn attention to themselves at all.

Like you said, I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not..

  • In reply to claytonabigsby:

    my honest opinion.

Bulls end up with Boozer because Bron Bron and Flash are staying put in their respective locations.

One of those teams ends up making a sign and trade and Bosh commits to playing Robin to somebody else's batman for a year until they can sign help using the mid-level exception.

Chicago tries to sell Boozer as a HUGE upgrade at PF...then uses the rest of their cap room to sign Mike Miller (who they've coveted for years) and a couple of other glue guys that come on the cheap.

10 years from now...Bulls fans....STILL waiting for their 7th championship....lament that summer in 2010 when GarPaxDorf stabbed them in the chest. Again.

    D

  • In reply to iamdvsj:

Boozer/Miller would be a significant upgrade, and would put us right there with the other Eastern contenders IMO. While it's not DWade or Bron, it's a successful summer.. we would still be the most improved team in the league, or at least close.

  • In reply to jmwebb:

    improvement...yes.

but is that REALLY a title contending team?

and I thought winning a championship was what this game was all about.

  • In reply to iamdvsj:

I don't think it's the fault of management if the FAs stayed WITH THEIR TEAMS. Their teams can offer more money, which any other team can't. If they went to another team then, that's the issue.

  • In reply to jmwebb:

why do they keep talking about if the knicks get lebron next year they can get carmelo anthony?!!!!!! Dont they play the same position!!!!!???? yet Rich bucher basically saying we cant get 2 of the big 3!

  • In reply to sharynlewis:

All of the ESPN guys are all about NY, that's all they mention. They see us ending up w. David Lee but admit Chicago has the best roster. All of them sound stupid and change their story every 30 seconds.

  • In reply to Vedo:

Sheridan is BY FAR the worst. Talk about an idiot.. and clearly a NY fan.

  • In reply to jmwebb:

    Oh yes. Totally.

  • In reply to jmwebb:

    noah does not i mean

  • In reply to sharynlewis:

According to NBA.com stats, Noah is 4th amongst starting Centers in points per 48 mins. His offense has improved a great deal.

  • In reply to jmwebb:

Look, we all love Noah and he has improved his game. But, what if all this ends and we come up with nothing just because we didn't throw Noah in a deal that would have got us Bosh and possibly could have locked up Wade or Bron to Chicago? What would we say then?

  • In reply to Vedo:

I understand your point, and if it were that simple, obviously you make the deal. But I don't think it's that cut & dry. If Wade let it be known that he'll come with Bosh, then you make that move immediately. But maybe there's another snag.. maybe a big selling point for Bosh IS Noah. Maybe he really doesn't want to be a Center, and really doesn't want to be the primary big man on the defensive end..? Maybe he's said to the Bulls that he doesn't want to be here unless they keep Noah?

  • In reply to jmwebb:

Well, then you tell him Kobe didn't wanna be here if we didn't keep Deng and look how that turned out. Plus, they can put better players around Bosh and make his life a whole lot easier. Yeah, I get that it may not be that simple. I guess we just don't know what's going on and shouldn't really speculate.

  • In reply to Vedo:

Yeah, it seems like I get more confused about this whole thing everyday. Every time I think I'm starting to get a grip on the situation, a rumor hits and messes everything up that I believed. Wade is the one that is the huge question mark to me. I don't think Lebron is leaving.

  • In reply to jmwebb:

I don't think he's leaving either. I mean, the guy is trying to get some help in CLE but nobody wants to go there. I hope that gives him a sign to just leave cuz he's got nothing there. I still hold out some hope for Wade because it just make sense except for the money issue. I guess it really is "All About The Benjamins" so far but we'll see how it is with Wade.

  • In reply to jmwebb:

csn reported possibility of the rumored deng to portland for bayless+center and flip to toronto sign and trade for bosh

  • In reply to sharynlewis:

Yep, but the Portland reporter poured cold water on that saying that it did not make sense for them. He also mentioned that it was tied to a Chris Paul trade.

  • In reply to sharynlewis:

I'm tired ot the point of exhaustion about people saying it's a simple as trading Noah for Bosh. 1) I'm not sure that's a good idea. 2) If you trade Noah, Bosh doesn't want to come here. 3) If you trade Noah, LeBron probably doesn't want to come here. 4) We don't even know if Bosh will ultimately choose the Bulls.

Fans always have to set it up as some big choice management if afraid to make. Players have to make the choice. The best choice for winning now and in the future is here. If they're too scared and too greedy to make that leap, so be it.

  • In reply to sharynlewis:

This is getting tiresome. On another note we should be happy that we were able to get rid of Hinrich. He makes a great combo guard off the bench but cant justify his contract. How many of you think Redick or Miller is not only better but would sign for less? This big 3 talk has been workded to death and I want to see something positive at the moment.

  • In reply to sharynlewis:

less than what we were due to pay Kirk

  • In reply to sharynlewis:

Again, not sure how credible this is but, Michael Wallace reports Miami is trying to do a S&T with Mavs, but, Mavs not interested.

The only deal I keep hearing of is the POR deal with Pryzbylla and Bayless along with trade talks with TOR for Bosh of course.

Obviously, it's between the Heat and the Bulls right now. Those are the two teams that Bosh wants to go to and bring Wade or LeBron.

The good news is we have more to offer even w/out trading Noah. I see a trade being done soon with Bosh ending up somewhere, just not sure where yet.

  • In reply to sharynlewis:

Bosh is the guy who has to make up a decision. He tells Toronto that he is going to Chicago no matter what..and they try to get a few picks out of that along with Taj. I think he is still trying to work LeBron into coming to Chicago while LeBron is trying to work him to come to Cleveland. If Bosh was interested in Miami, he would have gone by now to Miami. I think the fight for Bosh is between Chi/Cle

  • In reply to schaumburgfan:

Sounds about right, him knowing the marketing aspect is much better in Chicago then Cleveland/Miami...the big factor also in Chicago he doesn't have to play Center. I really think all this James wants to stay in Cleveland, is coming from people around there and not him. Next 24 hours, James/Bosh should be Bulls.

  • In reply to schaumburgfan:

I disagree. He wants that 6yr Max deal. TOR doesn't want anything Miami has to offer, therefore, he can't go. He would have ended up in Miami already not because he wanted to go, but because TOR would have accepted a deal. I do agree with you that it's between Chicago & Cleveland. I don't think Bosh wants to go to HOU because Toronto would love to ship him out west. He doesn't want to go down there because who knows how healthy Yao is and HOU can't win crap out west anyway.

In the end, I hope TOR just accepts the TAJ/picks deal and Wade joins Bosh along W/ a trade of Luol Deng going to some team.

  • In reply to Vedo:

It all comes down to the Bulls management being too arrogant and not being people persons. They don't know how to deal with the players of today. This is sooo frustrating. The Bulls have the best roster but they miss out on big name free agents, AGAIN!!! They better sign Boozer quick cause N.J. will throw big money at him and I'm sure he will take it. This has to be the management's fault not to get any of these guys. If Bosh goes to Miami, just look at it as being another Gasol trade cause they are basically giving Miami an all star player for nothing. And the Bulls had better keep Deng or it will be a terrible season next year.

  • In reply to Vedo:

I can't see the Bulls trading Noah to bring in Bosh simply because that would pretty much force Bosh to play center, which he doesn't want to do. I like Bosh with either Wade or LeBron. LeBron and Wade w/ Rose would be great on paper or for a fantasy league, but I think Rose would be relegated to a role player. The homer in me wants to see Rose flourish. I don't see how that can happen with Wade AND LeBron on the perimeter with Wade.

  • In reply to Vedo:

I wonder how many 3-way deals the Bulls have explored.. I would imagine there is SOMEONE that would be willing to take on Deng's contract if they could get a first rounder to go with him.

  • In reply to jmwebb:

it seems like this should be a no brainer. if bosh force sign and trade to toronto and toronto gives in then theres only wade bosh and few decent players. this is just ridiculous hope this ends tomorrow. im all for suspense but its like a movie that starts out good with suspense but then it doesnt end it keeps dragging and dragging. then the end really sucks

  • In reply to jmwebb:

    i meant miami..

  • In reply to jmwebb:

I don't think the Bulls are trading Noah for Bosh unless they are getting LeBron. As good as Wade can be, we all know his issues. Without a good center for short term, Wade/Bosh/Rose are still not good enough to win a championship. LeBron for all his faults can win a championship with Bosh/Rose.
That said, it depends on Toronto and Bosh. If Bosh says I am going to Chicago...the Raptors will probably take JJ/Taj/Picks/etc..

  • In reply to schaumburgfan:

Bosh really messed this whole thing up when he let the cat out of the bag about demanding the S&T. If Toronto believed he would walk away for the 5 year, 96 mil or whatever it is that Miami/Chicago can offer him, then Toronto would be much less demanding about what they get in return for him.

  • In reply to sharynlewis:

Bosh's twitter: "Today is a GREAT day!" moments ago. Hrmm.....

  • In reply to jmwebb:

cuz he feels really wanted would be my best guess LOL

  • In reply to Vedo:

Haha.. so true. What an attention whore.. but I liked him on Mike and Mike.. seemed like a decent down to earth guy. I dunno what to think of him now. I hope it's a great day because he just told PaxGarFor that he's coming.

  • In reply to jmwebb:

Yeah, he does seem like a decent dude but he's just taking this thing way too far.

  • In reply to Vedo:

Now the Knicks are back in it? http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=16714

  • In reply to jmwebb:

I guess that means he didn't go to the Knicks...

  • In reply to iamdvsj:

M Miller over K Korver? Korver is better shooter

  • In reply to sharynlewis:

and that's all Korver can do. Shoot.

Miller may not have the sweeter stroke...but he's pretty handy at rebounding...assists...I've seen games where he single handedly took the game over for a short burst.

  • In reply to iamdvsj:

DEFINITELY like Miller over Korver. I like Redick over Miller, though.. by a smidgen.

  • In reply to iamdvsj:

Really? Because living in Minnesota, I don't remember him being anywhere close to good...

  • In reply to iamdvsj:

    THIS SUCKS!!!

    http://realgm.net/src_wiretap_archives/67906/20100706/bosh_signed_and_traded_to_miami/#

John Paxson and Gar Forman need to be FIRED!!!

  • In reply to MrHappy:

No kidding. Hopefully we can land LeBron and/or Boozer. If we end up with something like Lee and Korver, I'm going to be pissed.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

Mr Happy, with all due respect, you've been acting like you know something that no one else knows all this time.. why would you react to this story with your underground information of Wade coming to CHI?

  • In reply to jmwebb:

    Agreed.

  • In reply to jmwebb:

realgm took that story down quick about Bosh to Miami

  • In reply to jmwebb:

    ALERT:

Everybody just needs to calm down and wait for the team to break the news cause all these sources and sites are gonna give everybody a damn nervous breakdown.

Let's all have faith and be patient.

  • In reply to Vedo:

I think it's done. That accidental story with Bosh's Tweet

  • In reply to Vedo:

Interesting turn of events as follows:

    1) Hoopsworld reports Lebron gang possibly with LBJ is off to NY Wednesday to crunch numbers and get FA plans. http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=16714

    2) Hoopsworld reports Heat targeting Boozer now. http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=16716

    3) Chris Bosh just tweeted about 25 min ago "Today is a GREAT day!"

Maybe reading into things too much but it would seem to imply Wade and Bosh did an end around on LBJ. LBJ is now looking at NY indicating the Bulls are off his list for some reason? Hmm could that reason be the result of the Bulls having locked up Wade and Bosh?

    Thx
    Bill

  • In reply to jmwebb:

Well if this is true I think it pushes Lebron to the Knicks. Lebron/Amare + 0 team > Wade/Bosh + 0 team. Then after a year when Curry comes off the books they can go after Chris Paul. Lebron can live where he wants and contend.

  • In reply to Dileg:

or when he officially becomes a FA.

  • In reply to Dileg:

    Rose/LeBron/Gibson/Noah > LeBron/Amare/Y-League players

  • In reply to evilhoban:

I 100% agree; however, Lebron wouldn't be competing with the Bulls and would see his only rival as the Heat. Which Lebron/Amare + 2011 flexibility > Wade/Bosh. Giving him the easy way out to NY, he can claim it's about winning having Amare.

  • In reply to evilhoban:

Bosh could be waiting for toronto to accept a trade with miami orr chicago because even with the max contract with sign and trade he dont want to play in cleveland. Toronto wants no players from either team. Someone has to give in so its a cat and mouse game.

  • In reply to evilhoban:

We just need to throw Noah in and it's a done deal.....and I say..........DO IT!

We missed out on Kobe, Garnett, Pau, we can't fuck up now.

  • In reply to evilhoban:

Alright so here's what my best guess is, based on what I've seen and heard.

Lebron REALLY wants to stay in Cleveland. He begged Bosh to join him, but Bosh just couldn't make sense of going to a small market like Cleveland with a sub-par town. Because of Boozer's history with Cleveland, that wasn't an option. So now Lebron is using his free agency as leverage to get Cleveland to make a desperate move (again), or pull off some kind of miracle. While this is going on, Wade is trying to talk Lebron out of his home town to join Miami. Bosh doesn't like this idea, because he doesn't want to be the 3rd option on any team. Lebron doesn't have the heart to leave Cleveland, especially to join a team who already has their #1 guy in Wade. Bosh likes Houston a lot, but is waiting for someone else to make a move first, to see if there's a better situation for him (Lebron or Wade in CHI, or possibly the Raps giving into Bulls Deng offer and playing next to Noah). Wade is waiting on Bosh or Lebron to agree to play in Miami, so that he can have some players around him before he resigns with his old team.

So we're at a stand still. Everyone is waiting on someone else. No one is willing to make the first move.

I know none of this is ground breaking.. but I guess I wanted to see if I'm missing something here..?

  • In reply to evilhoban:

I still believe Wade is going to Chicago. I understand he has been saying he wants to re-sign with Miami, and he could very much do that, but that has obstacles. The Heat roster, has a huge uphill battle to re-construct their roster, and have to have that roster of new players gel before they can get to the upper echelon of Eastern Conference teams. Plus, while Riley coming down places onus on the team to do well immediately, it sends a bad vibe to the rest of the team, Wade included, the vibe being that Spolestra can't coach talent, You let him coach when they just had Wade and just Wade. Now that there are some more formidable pieces, Riley can inflict his "pseudo-genius" and translate that to more wins. Please!

Chicago offers him a more, way more attractive package and he knows it.

  • In reply to rmr2376:

He knows it, but his heart is in Miami. Same for Lebron. We've all been in a bad relationship before, but our heart wouldn't let us leave.. even if it wasn't the 'best situation' or best partner for us. I think Wade and Lebron are both dealing with that.

  • In reply to jmwebb:

    Forgive me.

    I'm sleep deprived sorry.

Plus, I love adding excitement and emotion to Doug's blog...haha.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

    Justin,

Let's just say BUSINESS was good this past weekend.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

Does this sound like someone staying in cleveland:

Prepare YourselfThe launch date is nearing for the online home of LeBron James and you can put yourself on the guest list!

Personally directed by LeBron, the new site will keep you up to speed on his actions off the court, his focus on strengthening the community and why

  • In reply to mdot1986:

    the site seems so ominous

    www.lebronjames.com

    BREAKING NEWS:

Sources say LeBron will decide Thursday 9PM EST.

  • In reply to Vedo:

That's on ESPNU right? Which hat will he pick? HAHA.

  • In reply to Vedo:

    What's in a nickname? ...mmm.

  • In reply to Vedo:

LOL Lebron will announce his decision in an ESPN special on Thursday
    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5359255
He is really going to milk this one

  • In reply to claytonabigsby:

This is his way of living with himself after wasting everyone's time to re-up w/Cleveland after exactly zero roster changes. What a bunch of bs...

  • In reply to claytonabigsby:

The city of Chicago, having obtained the least # of.....OHHHH CRAP!! lol It can't get any worse than that.

  • In reply to claytonabigsby:

That seals it Lebron is staying in Cleveland... time to move on to plan B.

  • In reply to Vedo:

Is LeBron going to get some European accented guys to announce like they did when they eliminated "The City of Chicago" from Olympics..
But atleast, he is doing it for charity.

  • In reply to schaumburgfan:

    Oh God, not that again!

  • In reply to jmwebb:

I would only trade Noah for Bosh if there was a garauntee from either LeBron or Wade to follow.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

I think Bosh will eventually end up in Miami cause Toronto is stupid like that. Miami will give them nothing for an all star player. If this Happens Bulls better be on the Phone with Boozer quick.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

Over-reaction on my part. Oops. It must be my sleep-deprivation.

I meant to say Ric Bucher and the rest of the so-called "insiders" are IDIOTS.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

Let's just say BUSINESS was good this weekend.

    ...mmm.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

"...mmm"? What are you, a phone sex operator? I feel sorry for your keyboard....

  • In reply to MrHappy:

I'm done speculating, I still feel like Lebron signed on Saturday with us. Just trying to make the Cavs feel good for a few days.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

    Another twist for you guys:

    http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ys-freeagentcall070510

  • In reply to MrHappy:

Expect a trade very soon guys! We aren't out yet.

This is what Gar and Pax have been waiting for.

Their time starts now! Let's go!!!!!!!!

  • In reply to Vedo:

Been saying all along, Bulls way too under the radar. I guess Wade/Bosh is looking more likely. That team would handle the Cavs, I guess Lebron really thinks he is a King.

  • In reply to gibby6385:

Yeah, We have way too much to offer. Wade/Bosh/LeBron see that. I'm gonna stay optimistic about getting at least 2 of these guys. We need to pull off a damn trade soon.

  • In reply to gibby6385:

Well with this one hour Lebron special, sounds like a Cleveland celebration just ready to happen. I guess he's staying, if you think about it, if it was any other team it would be a ten minute special, it would go like this "Thank you Cleveland but I'm going to insert team. Its been great but I need to win." since its an hour special that means he's staying in cleveland and hes going to talk about why cleveland is so great for an hour. So what does this mean for Chicago? David Lee and maybe Mike Miller if he hasnt signed with another team by Thursday? I think the bulls are going to lose out on Boozer and Wade soon with all this waiting.

  • In reply to Snypershawn:

why would it be a 10 minute special if he was going to another team.If anything, he should have more to say if he's going somewhere else.

  • In reply to Dileg:

I agree with Rob. He wouldn't just say Hey Cleveland, in the words of my new teammate Joakim Noah "Cleveland Sucks" Peace out! LOL

I'm pretty sure if he was leaving he would take his time and explain why and let them down easy. We shall see.

  • In reply to Dileg:

Enjoy Cleveland Bron Bron. The emperor's new cloths...

    p.s. CLEVELAND SUCKS!!!

  • In reply to Dileg:

Larry Coon saying he wouldn't be surprised to see the cap come in a little lower rather than higher:

Stern said $56.1, but that they might have to "hustle" to get it. I wouldn't be surprised if it came in lower -- $55.5 - $55.9 million. But error bars are pretty big...

  • In reply to Dileg:

just wanted to say that Toronto is going to take what they can get from where Bosh wants to go or they get nothing. They realize that Bosh can go anywhere he wants to go without benefiting them. Bosh will pick a destination and Toronto will take what they can from that destination.

  • In reply to iamdvsj:

Bucher is still talking about how CHI can't fit 2 max guys, whether it be straight up or via S&T.. he's blind to some facts, for whatever reason.

  • In reply to jmwebb:

that guy hates us and really needs to shut up

  • In reply to claytonabigsby:

I want to believe that the Bulls are working on a lot of things and being tight-lipped about it. But, if others teams are leaking other news....why wouldn't they be leaking the Bulls news too..

  • In reply to schaumburgfan:

maybe we don't want anyone to top our trade and see our plan until the last day. I hope that's their plan cuz if not, we're not getting anybody.

  • I still dont beleive Wade is going to the bulls. Though I do beleive the bulls are up to something because they operate under the table, look at the Kobe thing very few rumors or stories came out of that until Kobe made a scene, and the bulls had spoke with him months prior. All these news reports have either come from the teams that the stars are leaving or the reporters that dont like chicago. Something is going on....

  • Given the Bulls' organizational commitment to secrecy I wouldn't be surprised if they had multiple contingencies lined up that nobody knows about. I think they only announced the "handshake deal" trading away Hinrich because A) they needed their fans and the media to understand they were drafting a player for another team, B) they needed FA targets to understand that they were serious, and C) the Wizards needed their fan base and media to understand why they weren't using their own cap space to pursue available FA's (instead preferring to take on Kirk, Yi, etc.). I may be proven wrong but I believe the Bulles probably have at least one potential deal for Deng lined up and are waiting to see how the LeBron, Wade, and Bosh decisions shake out before pulling the trigger. If they can get one or two of those superstars without trading Luol then they'll keep him. If it turns out that the numbers dictate they need to get rid of Deng, they will do what they have to do. They may have a version lined up that pays off another team to take Deng's full salary (a la the Hinrich deal) and another version where they get some salary relief and take back some usable pieces in return. Yes, I understand that the conventional wisdom is that Deng's contract is untradeable, and that if the Bulls could trade him it would have been done already. But in this insane market where the Darkos, Goodens, and Duhons of the world are getting rich, I believe that if Deng were a free agent today some team would pay him close to the 4 years, $50M currently due on his Bulls contract. Or certainly he would if the team acquiring him got a couple of 1st-rounders and/or the ability to shed some contracts in return.

  • In reply to petefogarty:

I prefer Rudy Gay to Deng, but they are in the same ballpark, and Gay got 5/80 plus.

  • Mr Happy-

Word is Toronto wants Noah in a S&T, so your starting lineup may be a bit off...

  • In reply to Dmband:

I seriously doubt it... Noah ain't going anywhere- I'm sure Toronto DOES want him though, but they ain't getting him. They'll take Taj and they'll like it!

  • In reply to turdburglar:

Nice classic "Bullsbeat" reference. I doubt Doug even remembers that.....

  • In reply to turdburglar:

    HOLD THE PHONE:

Ric Bucher is backing off that story.

    http://twitter.com/RicBucher/status/17903248828

    These journalists are IDIOTS!!!

  • In reply to turdburglar:

Does this push LeBron to Chicago now?

  • In reply to evilhoban:

    Exactly what I was thinking.

  • In reply to evilhoban:

Lebron is staying. He just texted me.

  • In reply to jmwebb:

    No "Tweat???"

  • In reply to turdburglar:

Oh, Jesus Christ.....Bucher is a dildo.....

  • I'm so tired of hearing the "30 million more" comment. It's not technically correct, because it's really just "one more year".. and if these guys perform, they'll all get another pretty good contract after the 5 years is up. I understand there may be a difference of a few mil in the end, but that will be MORE than made up for with the marketing opportunities in Chicago. I'm annoyed.

  • Rose is a superstar. Give him some cred. He's 21 and already almost as good as Wade.

  • In reply to Dileg:

Exactly!! This pessimism is RIDICULOUS people!

  • It was during the early Bullsbeat days when you had a co-host (forgot his name) and were talking about possibly trading for Gasol and possible packages we could put together to due so. Your co-host said something along the lines of "You will take Ben Gordon and you will like it". In context it was pretty funny.... :)
