Broussard source: Bosh and Wade to Miami

Per Chris Broussard:

Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are teaming up together on the Miami Heat, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Whether
LeBron James, the kingpin of this summer's celebrated free agent class,
will join them remains to be seen. James will announce his decision
Thursday night at 9 ET during a one-hour special on ESPN.

Wade and Bosh are expected to announce their decision on Wednesday, according to the source.

James
or not, the Heat could emerge as one of the top teams in the Eastern
Conference with Wade and Bosh aboard. Wade, who led the Heat to the NBA
title in 2006, is re-signing with the club, while Bosh will leave the
Toronto Raptors after seven years with the club.

Both players
are expected to get the maximum amount allowable under the league's
collective bargaining agreement, though the addition of James could
change the players' salaries. Contracts cannot be officially signed
until July 8.

Well certainly not surprising at this point.   I'll hope it's wrong, but it's time to start moving on the backup plan.

Boozer or Lee?

  • I would pray that's not true, because if it is the Bulls just struck out.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

Sometimes, you have to accept the truth and move on. I hope GAR/PAX are just doing it.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

I'll believe it when they announce it. Hopefully if true it's because LeBron told them he's going to Chicago, so there's no room for them there. ;)

I'm firmly in the David Lee camp. You're getting basically the same player, but younger and with less questions on attitude and injury with Lee. Also his max is less than Boozer's max due to fewer years in the league.

If no LeBron and we can get one of Lee/Boozer we can hopefully use the rest of the cap space to work out a trade.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

    Oh Doug,

please tell me something to lift my spirits.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

If we don't get Boozer...I would say that GAR/PAX struck out because they got played by Wade/Bosh and they didn't have the guts to make a decision by setting the table like the KNICKS did...I think their problem is more at looking what they had in the past or playing for the big prize in the future rather than setting the reality table aggressively.

  • In reply to schaumburgfan:

They had to wait for Lebron. Right or wrong, that was the strategy. I don't think it's a matter of getting played by Wade/Bosh.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

It must be the apocalypse - this news knocked the caps lock out of MrHappy

  • In reply to clancy:

Geez... My heart sank when I read this on twitter!! But come on guys!! Don't believe it until it comes from the mouth of the player or the agent!!

We're talking about Broussard here!! The guy changes his mind more often than my wife changes outfits before hitting the town!!!..

I just hope to God that when LBJ talks at his press conference he commits to the Bulls!!.. Either way, our roster will improve, and I believe that's the mission!!

  • In reply to clancy:

What do I want as a Bulls Fan... I want a team which can compete for a championship and not go out in the second round. The front office failed to upgrade it fast but they did do a good thing getting rid of Hinrich/Salmons etc...
But they didn't maximize the returns...What if they had traded Hinrich for a future pick instead of going for bare..
That's what happens when you have to do things at the last minute if they had this in their plans for a few years now.

  • In reply to schaumburgfan:

Don't get me started on the Kobe debacle... or the Gasol one.... GarPax are hamstrung by their owner. If we had a charismatic leadership triad then things would be different. Notice all the best teams have great owners... the worst teams have the worst owners... you rarely see a great owner with a horrible team....

  • In reply to schaumburgfan:

    I had a good vacation...haha.

I wish it didn't end at this point...haha.

    How's that?

  • In reply to schaumburgfan:

LOL at the management blamers and the tearful invoking of Tyrus Thomas.

My ony regret is that they didn't play the "Only the Bulls" video at the LBJ meeting, though. No way he could have turned us down after listening to those infectious grooves.

I'll judge management by what they do now. Can they can find a creative way to build around Rose and give us a great team? If not, then I'll point fingers in their direction.

  • In reply to schaumburgfan:

    BOTTOM-LINE:

If the Bulls have lost out on the BIG 4 (Wade, Bosh, LBJ and Amar'e), as is being reported, then John Paxson and Gar Forman need to resign or be fired.

There is NO EXCUSE not to land any of the top free-agents, not too mention GIVE AWAY Ben Gordon and Kirk Hinrich for NOTHING.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

The general consensus was that the Bulls offered the most attractive situation to any free agent, jack ass. That's a credit to the Bulls.

If the reports are true and it didn't work out, then so be it. But the front office did an excellent job to put themselves in this position.

  • In reply to KenyattaWright:

Yeah after all of this we confirmed all of our suspicions.
Bosh - media whore, wants attention but not popular enough so has to generate on his own and piggy back Wade
Lebron - Larger than life ego. "The Chosen One"
    Wade - Played the Bulls
Amare - Someone was going to overpay him

  • In reply to Dileg:

Exactly. Sometimes Mr. Happy shows his complete ignorance of the situation. He's in his own "Happy" world! Ha

  • In reply to KenyattaWright:

OK, sour grapes vent done with.

    Movin on.

So I guess we are screwed in free agency right? I mean we can't sign two all stars let alone two all star bigs that are pure gold in playoff signifcance right?

I know this will be lambasted, but I'd seriously consider signing both Lee and Boozer. Of course as long as the Bulls fiddled around while Rome burned probably neither of them are available now anyway. Lee will go to Phoneix or where ever and Boozer will be off to the Nets and the Russian Billionaire with Lopez and Harris.

But lets say they both still are avilable, and interested in the Bulls. Lets say the cap comes in at $57 Mil. Hell Boozer only plays in half his games anyway. Why not check egos at the door like Phil's players do. Split the playing time. Have two without doubt big time scorers. Joakim would rotate between PF and center just as Boozer and Lee would have to, but they'd know more of their minutes would come at PF at least.

Why not? Who doesn't propser with an absolutely loaded frontcourt.

And while I know getting two star bigs will get shot down, then you choose.

I haven't seene ither of these guys play that much. But david Lee is a good athlete, young, and so far not injury prone. He's sure as hell a fiery competitor, and sometimes a bit of an a-holoe on the court. Which is a good thing. The Bulls need someone like that. I'm betting Norm Van Lier would welcome D-Lee with open arms. hell, if he can extend his range a bit we've got the next Bill Laimbeer. Kidding. And as for defense some/many white guys in the NBA have sub par lat quicks no doubt. But david's agility was 10.80 at the pre draft measurements with a 3.19 sprint. Those numbers are not good for 6'9 guy in shoes they are excellent. 32" max vert good for a big. He's an excellent athlete.

Look at the Bulls with Kerr, Kukoc, Longley. Especially in the first to's case sure the refs whistled them mercilessly. But when the Bulls team D ratcheted up those guys did their part within the team's defensive system simlar to a Thib's defensive system.

Look, I know no one will buy the get two all star bigs plan maybe not even Lee and Boozer. But I think it's the best chance at improving your teams talent, especially in the playoffs where that kind of depth would be killer. And as I said it especially works in resting everyone, and keeping Boozer's injuries at bay and as insurance.

Anyhow, I know no one will listen so Bulls go get david Lee if he's still available you passively inert for way too long D-bags(kidding - sort of) But serious about getting two all star bigs.

  • In reply to MarkNorman:

They are both pick and roll PFs, not sure you need both. I would pass on Boozer and go for a Mike Miller or Kyle Korver as your SG.

    PG - Rose
    SG - Miller/Korver
    PF - Lee
    C - Noah
    SF - Deng

    Bench
    Gibson

  • In reply to MarkNorman:

It's funny how I keep saying these things, and then mysteriously they appear elsewhere. Now New Jersey reportedly wants Lee and Boozer. Of course they were smart enough o see the handwriting on the wall/be prepared, and have had a dialogue with Lee's aganet all along

  • In reply to MarkNorman:

    to, agent

  • In reply to MarkNorman:

Bulls need to sign Boozer or Lee today...thats our only hope imo. Make LeBron decide does he want to play with Boozer,Rose,Noah, and Deng or his Cavs. Still dont believe the Heat thing....i just dont see it happening.

  • In reply to MarkNorman:

Wade played us the whole time....i knew it

  • In reply to MarkNorman:

First I said(I'm really not congratulating myself it just would have been the common sense moves really the Bulls were too dumb/passively inert to make) day after day of no players referencing interest in the Bulls we gotta do soemthing/not get shut out. Get Boozer.

Then Sam Smith and Doug both say we have to do something get Boozer.

Now I'm saying hell we can still get two all stars and all star bigs at that. What are waiting for? A deep talented frontcourt is playoff gold.

And now New Jersey is trying to do exactly that get both of them.

Bulls you are three days late, and some $30 Million dollars short I'm afraid. I hate to say this, but I think we're fucked.

  • In reply to MarkNorman:

Please stop playing the violin...we will be OK!

  • In reply to schaumburgfan:

This is where Pax needs to get on his Michael from the Godfather mask and make a flurry of moves the way he did at the Salmons/Miller trade deadline. Have our hearts and minds content by lunch-time, Pax.

  • In reply to clancy:

    APOLOGY:

I think John Paxson, Gar Forman and Jerry Reinsdorf owe ALL Bulls' fan an APOLOGY.

Why be LOYAL for this bull-shit?

  • In reply to clancy:

Sometimes.. this f-ing posting software pisses me off. My whole post just dissapeared. God dam* son of a bit*h ass.. thing!(laughing to myself) Oh well.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

I don't believe this report for two reasons:

    1) It's Chris Broussard. I believe I have better sources than he does (I have none).

    2) I don't believe Bosh is going anywhere without a sign and trade. That part gets left out of his story. That's pretty much the biggest thing with Bosh and his sources are unsure?! Miami has nothing to offer in a sign and trade, so Broussard just brushes over that point.

  • In reply to KenyattaWright:

Unfortunately, I think it is fairly true. Miami needs to sign some mid-level guys to fill out the roster but they are #2 or #3 in the East now (Depending on if Boston can stay together with Ray and Orlando can step it up).

Best case scenario is that the Bulls sign Pargo and get lucky in the lottery. They tried the best, but their own leadership gets in the way. No matter how great an opportunity is, working for Garpax and Reinsdorf is a show stopper. Who would you rather have Pat Riley or Gar/Pax? Easy choice.

  • In reply to ux4all:

HUH? Lottery?? What are you supposed fans smoking?? We were a 41-41 team with injuries last year! Our stars will IMPROVE... how exactly does that spell regression. Get a grip people.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

    NIGHTMARE:

    It just keeps getting worse.

    http://twitter.com/WojYahooNBA/status/17950074391

  • In reply to MrHappy:

I think LeBron might go to Miami for all we know. Because, he knows Wade is old and in 3 years he will be the main guy.
It is sort of like Kobe/Shaq...Shaq was the key initially but Kobe is the key in the last few championships.
Here, it is more of an equal in the beginning and it will be all LeBron in 3/4 years...
This way he makes sure he not only wins now and get lots of veterans who want to win for min in the future and keep winning.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

Look, I know people on here for the most part won't point the finger at Gar/Pax. You sure can not blame Jerry with the Hinrich trade he showed he was all in/went the extra mile.

While I blame the max guys for being so colluding/innerwoven that they reminded me more of girlfriends planning how to diss all their friends at the prom then being men, their own man, and doing what's best for them.

Still, I have a hard time believing old bug eyes(sorry but true) Gar "I wont be put in a box" Forman and John "I'm so sorry/tramautized over the Vinny shoving match" Paxson, (in SpongeBob falsetto wheeping voice, " I shoved him, I shoved him."

But seriously I do think a manager of talent requires some charisma and gravitass that Pax/Gar absolutely do not possess. Still, I know I'll be lambasted for bringing any of the blame to their doorstep. Look, the guyes did draft Joakim and Taj, and even though they lucked into him they could have done as Stacy King suggested going after our long coveted big in Mrs. Beasley.

Truth is, if these guys weren't such colluding, self-absorbed immature a-holes, one of them surely would have looked beyond whatever rep the Bulls management has, and realized that D-Rose and Joakim are warriors, and this would be a winning place in a major market to come play with a contending team in waiting.

Honestly, just because Chris Broussard says Wade and Bosh are going south doesn't mean it's true. For every five erroneous false headlines one of his are true similar to Stephen A(a is for airhead) Smith.

But the CW all along is that Bosh who needs a dining buddy in Wade to survive this being a man, and making your own decision thing, found his dad/bro in Wade, and will follow him down a sinkhole aka Miami.

But just think about it if true. Wade now can say what he wants did try to defame the Bulls organization(and apparently succeeded). You are somewhat who you hang with are you not? His freak ex-wife, Star "Momma" Jones, not to mention the other "social" activities he's alleged to have been involved with.

The Lebron. The Michael imitating, talc throwing, not like Mike choking in the two biggest games of his basketball life(Celtics game 5 and clinching game against Orlando with eight turnovers??). His dancing while the games going on. The shit with the towel boy? His adolescent army which he's hanging with now into his mid twenties??

In a sense, thank god we didn't hook up with these two bed wetters and the slime aka Riley's bitch in Wade.

  • In reply to MarkNorman:

I agree. Get a scoring option down low, let Rose develop into a top 5 player and we will be fine. The media created all this hype. Before the season ended we never planned on getting Lebron or Wade. These big 3 have made the NBA more and more like WWE. Let's get back to basketball and win with a group of guys we can get behind.

And stay the FUCK off Twitter.

  • In reply to MarkNorman:

What about a trade for Al Jefferson?

  • In reply to MarkNorman:

If everything fails, We should offer some picks to the Hornets for David West...

  • In reply to MarkNorman:

am i missing something? bosh wants as much money as he can get. so does that mean he gets max while lebron and wade split the rest? i dont see that happening.

  • In reply to MarkNorman:

...btw. If LeBron goes to Miami, he better watch his D-Wade around his mom.

  • I think the Bulls have to go for Boozer. Again, we are in a pinch because Cleveland might go for a max deal on Boozer in a S & T if LeBron wants to stay.
I hope the Bulls are prepared with the best backup plans(they have been very quiet) or have they been shell-shocked after WWWes plans didn't pan out that they are not able to speak?

Boozer will want Amare money now...Wow!!

  • Yeah, something along those lines I think is good. Not LeBron good, but would really improve the team. Provided LeBron stays in Cleveland I think it'd be an interesting season between the Bulls/Cavs/Heat/Magic/Celtics. Could easily have 5 teams in the mid-50s win wise.

  • Do you see us getting any players currently under contract in trades? Or do we get Boozer/Lee and a shooter and call it a day?

  • I feel like we are out of the Lebro sweeptakes unless we get one of the Bigs.

Doug, Can you give me a rundown of Lee's game and how it would better the Bulls in comparison to taj?

  • Reports have been WRONG before, but we are dealing with the Bulls organization.

I'll let things play out at this point.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

    Dude....its over....

  • In reply to MrHappy:

the bulls just need to build around Drose I know he's going to be a 20-10 guy next season watch... he's def a better player than wade and has the potential to be better than lebron ....we have our own superstar but not everyone realizes it.....

  • In reply to MrHappy:

Well looks like we have to move on to the backup plan even if LeBron has decided he's coming, according to twitter.com/pdcavsinsider NONE of the teams know what LeBron has decided (and they didn't even know this was how they'd be told until they heard it themselves).

  • In reply to MrHappy:

    First off: fuck.

Second, its not over until the FAs declare their intentions and sign on the dotted line(s). Even if the top three don't come to Chicago I'm confident that we're going to have a better team than we ended the year with. Plus, with another year or two of an improving DRose, it's possible he may soon be better than DWade. With the actions of the big 3 regarding free agency I am more than happy with Rose as our central superstar.

GarPaxdorf has done an AMAZING job at putting us in position to build a superteam and revamping their image this off-season. I've got to believe they were prepared with the "strikeout" scenario. Can't wait to see what they have in store.

  • In reply to jamatokwu:

    AMAZING jog...mmm.

They LUCKED into Rose and Noah and unless they prove these reports wrong, I think they have done a pretty piss-poor job with letting BG7 and Hinrich go for nothing.

  • In reply to jamatokwu:

why havent we heard a anything from the bulls?

  • In reply to sharynlewis:

What do you want to hear??

  • In reply to sharynlewis:

Because they are tied up in a closet at thhe UC.

  • In reply to sharynlewis:

I think GAR/PAX had a bad cellphone plan and their minutes ran out at the end.

  • In reply to sharynlewis:

I don't see why there's such negativity (here and elsewhere), a few months ago it looked like Wade and LeBron were close to locks to stay and we were just hoping for an outside chance at Bosh. What we're calling the backup plan (Boozer or Lee) was the realistic plan.

I still see plenty of room for hope, maybe we're not another dynasty, but with this plan we can still develop into a contender, the Lakers are old and there's no team that is clearly good enough to take over.

  • In reply to DontLetsStart:

    Exactly.

Plus, is anyone really afraid of Bosh/Wade in Miami? They're still not even the best team in Florida.

And I suspect Bosh will spend more time in a dress as part of a drag queen show than he will spend playing basketball. I suppose now that I think of it, Bosh is destined for Miami, as there is no better place for a drag queen in high tops.

  • In reply to KenyattaWright:

Wow, ignorant comments aside I do believe Bosh and Wade in Miami are very beatable. I see Chicago becoming a top team in the East either way this shakes out. We will add an upgrade at PF in Lee or Boozer most likely. And will probably get a nice shooter. Also, let's not forget that D.Rose is almost certainly going to improve his own 3pt shooting making him even more of a threat and an even better superstar.

    THERE IS STILL HOPE PEOPLE!

  • In reply to DontLetsStart:

I'm still waiting on Mr. Happy's big news :-)

  • In reply to sharynlewis:

a heartbeat because seem like we are dead..we got played by dwade and pat riley. dont understand why even talked to wade after what he said about the organization.

  • In reply to sharynlewis:

i liked boozer over bosh all long. Just nervous we would have to overpay him.

  • In reply to sharynlewis:

or even get boozer now because we kept waiting. now he may go to whatever team pays him the most

  • In reply to sharynlewis:

Now there are reports of David Lee going to PHX!-_- FUUUUUUCCKKKKK!!!!!! Today is not a good day...

  • In reply to joeacook3:

Phoenix doesn't have any cap space left.

  • In reply to joeacook3:

Uh, how will that work? S&T for whom?

  • In reply to joeacook3:

    Boozer to the Bulls.

  • In reply to joeacook3:

    http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/07/boozer-commits-to-bulls.html

  • In reply to MrHappy:

I think there is still hope we get Lebron...he is not staying in Cleveland now. He is either coming to Chicago or going to NY.

  • That's the risk they took. If they had set the table for Boozer, maybe he would have come for 13 mil/year(I don't know that) but whatever price he is going to demand now will be definitely more than what he would have been 10 hours back or 2 days back.

If this happens, GAR/PAX did everything right but they didn't execute the finish well.
    1. They were not able to trade Deng or free up space for 2nd MAX
    2. They didn't set the table as NY did
    3. They were played by WADE/BOSH. Maybe they were genuinely interested in the BULLS but if this was the plan all along of going together to one place...they should have seen it coming..A lot of people here guessed that Wade with his age/game is not going to get another big deal and with his divorce issues will need the extra money. What I mean is they did ask the right questions?
The reason is the Bulls had the best talent(Good Center/PG) which no other team has...They should have known that money ranks higher for these guys...so set the table..

  • In reply to schaumburgfan:

Can't blame the Bulls FO for this. The Heat got lucky. Simple as that. Riley's grand plan almost blew up in his face. Apparently Bosh decided to join the Heat regardless of getting the max deal and that's what sealed it. The Bulls played this perfectly. In the end, they were not lucky enough.

  • In reply to jamatokwu:

Agree. Bosh can't resist the lure of Wade's orgies there.

Lebron to Knicks? This plus the huge press conference rumors in NY for Thursday prior to this Lebron announcement conference sound like that's what's happening.

  • Let things play out people.

  • The media has resurrected LeBron to NY although basketball wise it still makes less sense than Chi and NJ. I still don't think we're out of this because we could still bring in Boozer or Lee.

But I'm terrified of signing Boozer especially if we don't get Bron. David Lee and Morrow and/or Reddick is definitely the primary fall back to getting Bron right now and if Bron stays in Cleveland, which is near certainty if he doesn't come here, than we could win with that team.

  • Worth noting that in addition to coaching, his defense is better at PF than C (where he's been forced to play in NY of late).

I also think the fact he's a good passer would fit well on the Bulls, Rose isn't a pure point who is just going to set people up all game, we're going to need an offense that shares the ball around.

  • That's the best of a bad situation, for sure. I'd rather have Gordon, Hinrich, Omer Asik and Tyrus Thomas, though. (and Ty Lawson instead of James Johnson, dammit!)
    Rose - Hinrich - Lawson
    Gordon - Hinrich
    Deng - Damion James
    Thomas - Gibson
    Noah - Asik

    meh?

  • You seem to think that Bron won't announce he's leaving Cleveland on national tv but I believe you are forgetting your own description of him:

"LeBron is an asshat" - Doug Thonus

Seriously it's a public relations nightmare no matter the decision so I wouldn't rule the Bulls out completely. One conspiracy I heard is that he's going to leave but at the same time the money he's raising for charity will go home to Akron so he won't seem like that big of a jerk.

  • I'm with you, but I like Miller more myself. He's better defensively than any of those guys, and can also slide over to SF when we need two shooters on the floor. He gives us a veteran presence, as well.

But I don't buy anything the press is saying, there have been so many conflicting reports. These are essentially everyone's last best guess before the results come in.

  • The bulls got played by all the free agents, wade played the bulls making them think they had a chance when he and Bosh knew they wouldnt be going there, meanwhile other teams have been grabbing the other free agents, its a bulls fan nightmare, Lee came and went without a whisper from chicago's meeting, Boozer was begging to go to chicago and now he's moved on because management ignored him, the bulls have no power forward and no shooting guard, get ready for the rest of the roster to be filled out with d leaguers.... KC mentions trades but there's no game changers out there that are attainable, and what are the bulls going to trade? Deng for a bag of chips?
