Hinrich + #17 to Indiana for #10 + ???

Per NBAdraft.net's twitter:

10th pick included in that rumored deal. Not sure who Chicago targets at 10.

Trade Rumor: Kirk Hinrich to Indiana. 17th pick included - Indiana targeting Gordon Hayward at 17. Not sure what Ind gives in deal.

Could be T.J. Ford, Troy Murphy, Michael Dunleavy Jr, or Jeff Foster + Solomon Jones (or a variety of other possibilities).

The trade doesn't seem to make much sense from the Bulls perspective with Ford unless a followup trade is in the works.  Ford saves them money next year which is really irrelevant.    The same could be said of Dunleavy.

Murphy could be a fit for the roster this year, but it eats into our cap space making it somewhat unlikely.

Foster + Jones (or another small contract) could save us a tiny bit of money this year, but again doesn't seem to fit unless a follow up trade is in the works.

I guess the Bulls could be doing this just to move up in the draft, but it seems unlikely as the talent at #10 isn't so enticing to me.

  • I have been vying for Murphy for the longest time. He would be great next to Rose. He is very undervalued since he plays for Indy but he has skills for days.

I highly doubt we are just trying to move up in the draft. This has to have some sort of bigger picture going. But we will see later on tonite.

  • not sure about murphy. i'm not a huge fan of his. Is paul george projected to go around 10?

  • I don't understand why they are trying to move up into the draft?

Does anyone know anything about Al Harrington? That's one guy i would like the Bulls to go after if they want a stretch four like Troy Murphy...

  • In reply to joeacook3:

Seems as if Al Harrington to the Bulls has been a rumor numerous times during the past couple of seasons.

If the Bulls get just LBJ (or, as much as I don't want to say it, Joe Johnson) as a top-tier, I could see Harrington coming in, too, as a secondary move. Offensive/Defensive combo with Taj.

  • In reply to joeacook3:

Ya i talking about this trade a while ago, Murph is a heck of a player...double double machine. Plus he can hit the 3 ball...opens the lane up for LeBron. AND his contract expires after next season!!!! Pacers apparently really wanted to get rid of him this past deadline to Cleveland.

So if you dont want him...send him on his way next year...and go after someone else.

    Deng to Orlando unlikely
    AM ET
Luol Deng | Bulls Top Email

According to Mike McGraw of the Daily Herald, a trade between the Bulls and Magic has been discussed, but is unlikely.

McGraw writes: "One rumor that does have some legs is Luol Deng to Orlando for forward Mickael Pietrus and center Marcin Gortat. It has been discussed, according to a source, but talks have not gotten serious and there is no proof the Bulls are inclined to make such a move. This deal would save the Bulls about $22 million in future salaries, but it wouldn't give them any more cap space to add a second free agent this summer. In fact, it would erase about $300,000 in cap space, which probably makes this move unlikel

  • In reply to joeacook3:

IMO Bulls must really like George or Henry. Or they are just trying to use the pick in another potential trade.

  • In reply to joeacook3:

Wasn't this one of Mr. Happy's wish list items??

  • In reply to saigman:

It is a nice trade but we also make Orlando a lot stronger...

    Carter, Re-sign Barnes?
    Deng, Draft Pick
    Lewis, Bass

Thats pretty scary there...id take the other trade instead.

  • In reply to saigman:

The Bulls should do this trade.

At #10 take PAUL GEORGE, then ship JEFF FOSTER with TAJ GIBSON, OMER ASIK, maybe JAMES JOHNSON and Charlotte's #1 Pick in 2012 to Toronto for CHRIS BOSH.

At least, that's what I'm thinking.

Ideally, it would be nice to get PAUL GEORGE for Hinrich and RUDY FERNANDEZ for Johnson today.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

#10 for Hinrich & #17 would be nice but seems unlikely.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

    Hi Guys

New here but what better time to join the discussions.

    Just a thought

Deng for Pietrus and Gortat then use Gortat and others or cap space in S&T for Bosh? Sure Gortat is the type of player Toronto would love next to Bargnani. We will still have enough cap space for LB23.

I think CB4 will want S&T for Toronto (his bit back to the city) so if we give up Deng to Clips for cap space only we won't have any assets that Toronto would want to get CB4

  • In reply to Jersey66:

you dont trade deng to l.a..
you trade him to minny for al jefferson
    before they draft johnson..
and then you do this deal and get paul george..
then you trade al jefferson, bobcats pick,a future second rd and omer asik for chris bosh july 1st..

bosh & george? thats a great offseason.. and i doubt they move that high for henry.. when james anderson is a better player, fit & shooter and could go from late lottery to mid 20s..no reason to get a top ten for henry.. unless we do something like deng to minny for jeff and use the 10th & bobcats pick for bosh.. that way we get rid of deng & hinrich's contract while keeping taj, asik, getting miller and murray back and still have a max for lebron or to fill out or team with depth..

  • In reply to Jersey66:

    Here's the story.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

they goina get joe johnson & chris bosh.. and keep deng..

even if lebron doesnt come now.. we have a better shot at bosh now that he knows he could come with a player like johnson to chicago instead of being with only two other good players in miami..

  • In reply to MrHappy:

Wow bye Hinrich go clank away in Washington. Bosh Lebron and Johnson to chicago, super dynasty team!!! LOL

  • In reply to MrHappy:

I think "THE GREAT" Nick Young is coming to the Bulls.

He's a SG and Taj Gibson's good friend.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

Yeah I think Joe Johnson is pretty much a done deal cause now Bulls have no shooting guard.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

Chicago Bulls like PAUL GEORGE at #10:

Indiana could still be in play!!!

  • In reply to MrHappy:

If it cant happen til the 8th then how will FA playout? Hmmm

  • In reply to MrHappy:

Its a wait and see game basically

  • In reply to MrHappy:

It is good if this move makes space for the 2nd Max FA.. I am not completely sure if that is true.
Deng is definitely more talented basketball wise than Hinrich. So that's a good move if it opens up cap-space for 2nd FA. Plus, they hopefully still have something for Bosh S & T. The Bulls are doing both(opening cap space for 2 FAs and having some pieces for S & T) unlike Miami and NY. That's great management by GAR/PAX if it works out...

  • In reply to MrHappy:

KCJHOOP (aka K.C. Johson's twitter) hasn't said a thing yet.

Until he confirms it, I'm staying cautiously optimistic.

I still think INDIANA could come back into play here.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

Exactly Schaumburg Johnson, Lebron and Bosh. Like I jokingly stated. Johnson is obviously in their sites considering the bulls wont have a point guard??? and Deng could be traded for Bosh so the bulls would have a starting lineup of Rose, Johnson, James, Bosh and Noah. If thats not Championship, then the referrees had something to do with the games...

  • In reply to MrHappy:

Correction the bulls wont have a shooting guard sorry...

  • In reply to MrHappy:

I think we'll end up with Bosh & Joe Johnson. Joe Johnson comitting to the Bulls early?

  • In reply to MrHappy:

WHat's Plan B if Miami manages to get the guys the Bulls are targeting?

  • In reply to MrHappy:

Holy crap! I want Bosh an LeBron!!!!!

That could be something we try...i think we should too...gotta have easy buckets down low!

    Joe Johnson
    LeBron, Deng as 6th man?

  • In reply to MrHappy:

So it's been suggested we could have dumped Deng(to the Clippers) for nothing or now Kirk, and we chose Kirk. If this means room for two max guys, I'm obviously all for it. It just sucks though that in what IMO is not a star laden but deep draft if we come out of this with no picks.

Anything from early twenties to early second round you're talking possibly Dominique Jones, Elliot Williams, Jordan Crawford, and Parakhouski who like I said is no Aaron Gray at 6'11 260 with 6% body fat and ran a 3.33 sprint at the NBA pre-draft measurements/combine. That and some of the other guys mentioned is a lot of talent to get nothing from. As someone who watches these guys as a hobby I guess and makes draft picks this sucks. But maybe somehow OKC still with picks, Atlanta, or Minny can have at least one for us at to acquire at obviously a low salary cost/slot to share in the talent wealth. I'd be really pleased if we could get one of the guys I mentioned above along with the critical cap clearing of Kirk. And good luck to him. He's had good and many bad times, but he's certainly a decent guy/competitor.

  • In reply to MarkNorman:

Also it sounds like a long shot on the Deng for Gortat and Pietrus deal, but it sure sounds like an attempt at least at pieces for another deal presumably Bosh(in a sign and trade). I'd say the Hinrich deal(though we give up our pick) means were off to a good start in today's mega dealings. I just hope something else good happens either obtaining necessary pieces for a big sign and trade or picking up at least one pick/player in this deep draft.

  • In reply to Jersey66:

Holy crap so what just happened!??!?! Hinrich and 17 to Washington for basically nothing?! Bulls get enough cap space for another top notch FA. HOLY CRAP that would be huge. I wonder what we are getting back. Give me Nick Young lol haha

Washington has the #35 pick in the 2nd round...maybe they will give us that too. Jordan Crawford, Dominique Jones, Kevin Seraphin, Craig Brackins, Jarvis Varnado, Willie Warren...tons of guys possibly there in the 2nd round!!!!

  • In reply to MrHappy:

IMO....all this talk makes me think something will happen tonight.

I bet the Bulls make a trade we have no clue about lol Thats what usaully happens.

  • In reply to Csharp:

  • In reply to Csharp:

I guess for a S & T with Toronto for Bosh....Toronto covets a big man in exchange for Bosh. Their preferences would be:
    1. Noah 2. Bynum 3. David Lee 4. LaMarcus Aldridge 5. JJ Hickson 6. Gortat 7.Al Jefferson 8. Foster and one from Gibson/Asik? 9. Dampier(expiring contract) and others 10. Beasley

I am just guessing on the rankings...but if the Bulls find out who the Raptors probably will go with...they should trade for them(Gortat, Foster, Jefferson)...If not, there shouldn't trade for the 2nd tier big men with big contracts

  • In reply to Csharp:

sources say the deal with Washington could be complete by July 8th meaning either team could still pull out. Good for Bulls if they can't sign anyone.

  • In reply to Reese1:

Look for Bulls to sign Joe Johnson if the trade stays true or could be a sign and trade for Mike Miller.

  • In reply to Reese1:

If they get our draft choice tonight I don't think they can pull out. I believe its all technical for cap reasons...but they can't change their mind when the deal is done.

  • In reply to mdot1986:

The Bulls will still probably use the pick and keep it until they see if Bosh or Lebron signs with them, if they don't sign then I am sure the Bulls will pull out before July 8th.

  • In reply to Csharp:

Yeah the report is on ESPN...

  • In reply to joeacook3:

Now they're saying the Clips would take Luol's contract, but won't give up their No.8., but only a second rounder(which if it's their own it's so late it would be worthless). I know dumping Deng's contract for nothing is something they probably wont do, but freeing up that much cap space and then going for it for two free agents isn't that worth the gamble/why were here when you're talking Bosh, Lebron, Amare etc.?

  • In reply to joeacook3:

Also if the Bulls get one or two top guys you could fill Deng's spot with an M.L.E maybe Outlaw or Mike Miller.

  • In reply to joeacook3:

Ya thats interesting....We can get rid of Deng and bring in LeBron and Bosh or Joe Johnson or Amare etc... Bulls have to think about this...could be a good thing.

  • In reply to joeacook3:

some one remind me how many winning not just .500 seasons have Hinrich n Deng lead the Bulls to?.....when are we gonna talk about Noah's fragile frame. The Orlando deal sounds nice to me...fills out the roster more smartly than waiting to see which lower tier free agents they can get on the cheap...that is a concern of mine. who will fill out the roster giving the injury prone nature of these players.

  • In reply to drob:

I'm missing the point where it matters what Hinrich and Deng did in the past! Get them outa here so we can start winning rings not reg season games! Gimme a break...and last time I checked Noah is the 2nd most important player on the current team next to Rose!

  • In reply to joeacook3:

So what would the deal look like if they arnt adding in the #8!?

Deng an 17 For throw ins!? Im not sure if i want to give our 17 then.

What about Deng and 17 for throw ins (2nd round pick, others) and future 1st.

I'd be all over that trade Pietrus is a good athletic SF & Gortat a good backup Center. In order to think about winning a championship we need a good bench and role players. Even if we have Lebron we can't win without a deep bench. I'd be all over this trade to move Deng and his big contract for 2 very usable pieces. $300K isn't that much cap space to lose in a trade like this to improve the team. We can only take this cap space so far before we gut the whole team too bad.

Either somebody at NBADraft.net and Hoopsworld is reading MY TRADE IDEAS or they are on the bandwagon...haha.
