Thunder not a threat to get Bosh

Per Ric Bucher's twitter:

And in case it comes up again: Bosh-to-OKC has zero chance of happening for more reasons than I can list in 140 characters.

I know the guy gets crap for "Kobe will never play for the Lakers again", but Kobe Bryant told him that, so how can you blame the guy for going public with it?

I'd love to know what reasons he has for believing this about the Thunder.  Does he think Bosh isn't interested, that the Thunder won't spend the money, or both?

Personally, I think the primary reason is that the Thunder don't want to be big players in this FA period.   The new CBA is going to dramatically lower contracts and as a small market team, I don't think they want to get locked into a 20 million per year deal right before the new CBA starts limiting these deals to 14-15 million a season instead for the level two max guys.

In that sense, I don't predict that OKC is a threat for any top tier 2010 FAs.

Either way, good news for Bulls fans who may have been concerned with the Thunder as an option for Bosh.

Looks like it's Miami or Chicago with a real outside shot of LA.

  • Why would OKC want to break up their young core, even for Bosh?

I say they stay the course they are on. It looks pretty good and quite similar to a young Bulls' team from the late 80's.

Plus, with Bosh having business interests off the court, OKC doesn't seem to fit his goals.

your kidding right? they have no front court. Kristic, Collison and Green don't scare anyone. They are a post prescense away from being serious contenders.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

another reason might be that rose would love to defer to bosh. With westbrook an durant, i'm not sure bosh would be getting the ball THAT often. I'm not sure bosh would be in consideration for the best player on the team in OKC. he'd definately be the second fiddle.

miami chicago bosh is still arguably the best player on the team. Wade hasn't been that spectacular this year, and rose is just a great young star.

BOTTOM LINE... the best team for Bosh to go to would be the Bulls PERIOD. You can put Bosh in all of these other scenarios and he would not be the go to guy on the team not unless he wants to go to N.Y. or N.J. or L.A. the CLIPPERS not the other L.A. team. We will just have to see if he is smart and realizes where he needs to be and if he is really serious about having a chance to grow with a young team and do big things.

I don't think the Raptors front office are interested in building a frontline with Green and Bargs. If the Raptors choose to be a part of a sign and trade, they will definitely want a franchise center in return. I think they'll get just that by helping Bosh go to the Lakers, and have a legit shot at winning a championship next season.

  • In reply to JimmyBulls:

You're assuming the Raptors have any real control over where he goes. The 6th year isn't that big of a bargaining chip.

  • In reply to JimmyBulls:

Personally, I think Bosh is a good guy, and won't want to leave the Raptors without them getting some value in return. I would be surprised if Bosh just up and left the Raps free and clear. I think Amare or Boozer could care less about their team, but I don't see Bosh being that type of person.

  • In reply to JimmyBulls:

If he wants to win, he'll want his new team to have the best pieces in place as possible, and with some foresight, extra space under the cap.

  • In reply to JimmyBulls:

First off, I'm happy I went to Game 3, instead of watching this GARBAGE live.

Secondly, John Paxson better pull a rabbit out of his hat (or ass) and get WADE and BOSH.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

I'd say he needs to pull the cock out of his ass.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

    What was the bigger MISMATCH?

Jamison outscoring Gibson 24-4...THE BULLS NEED CHRIS BOSH!!!

    or

LBJ outscoring Deng 37-16...THE BULLS NEED CARMELO ANTHONY or DWYANE WADE!!!

  • In reply to MrHappy:

BOSH will help devlope Gibson and Byron Scott will help Rose/Hinirch, even more. Miller will stay to help continue to help Noah as well. this is full proof.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

Bulls need to fire Del Negro asap right after our season is over. Im talking the next day. Let everyone know that this Bulls job is up for grabs...the 2 main guys i would be looking at is Doc Rivers and Byron Scott. Both coaches that would be a great fit for the Bulls.

Bulls need to walk away with Bosh is summer. Noah, Deng, Rose get your recruiting game on! Shoot if LeBron doesnt win the title this year, id go hard after him too.
