Derrick Rose has an amazing performance in loss to Mavs

Derrick scored 34 on 15-22 shooting while adding eight assists.   He simply dominated the game, and in the fourth quarter he scored over and over again to give the bulls a chance to win the game.   Unfortunately, the Bulls had no answer for Roddy Beaubois in the third, and Dirk Nowitski who went absolutely nuts in the fourth quarter to halt any hopes of comeback from the Bulls.

It's rarely fun to watch a loss, and I was still disappointed the Bulls couldn't take this game.   However, knowing that the Mavs were really hot, the Bulls were really cold, and the Bulls were undermanned, I had little expectation for this one to remain within twenty.

Maybe those facts allowed me to just sit back and enjoy watching Derrick Rose light up the game.   Maybe it's the hope that watching him develop gives me for the future.   Either way, the Bulls played a very good offensive game which I found enjoyable despite the loss.

Even though it was all Rose down the stretch, everyone played reasonably well on offense for the Bulls with the exception of Luol Deng.   If the Bulls could have gotten a bit better shot making out of Deng they would have had the offense they needed to win the night.

Unfortunately, with the loss and wins by the competition, the Bulls have dropped into a tie for 8th with Miami and are a mere half game ahead of the Bobcats for that final playoff spot.  It simply doesn't look good for the Bulls playoff hopes going forward and without Joakim Noah coming back soon, the Bulls are really going to struggle.

  • How does Pargo play the last 15 minutes when he was continually killing us on offense???

  • In reply to Dpauley23:

I'm no Pargo fan, but who else was going to play? Murray?

Pargo got 11 points in 14 minutes. At least he contributed.

And Deng's being held together with glue and some string. He probably should sit out a week or so.

Either way, Noah's absence is a killer.

  • In reply to borg:

He had 11 points on 10 shots nothing too spectuclar about it. He gave us good spark, but never should of played down the stretch

  • In reply to Dpauley23:

11 points on 10 shots IS a spectacular game for Pargo.

  • In reply to Dpauley23:

I honestly fail to see how this team wins another game until they play Philadelphia on March 20th. We play nothing but playoff teams until then. This team cant play defense worth a damn. Giving up 121 points in regulation is a defensive failure. We did okay on rebounding tonight, but the defense is just going to kill this team.

  • In reply to Dpauley23:

It boggles my mind that people can't see through this team's highs and lows. No, the Bulls probably weren't headed for the 5th seed and the second round two weeks ago. No, the Bulls aren't totally screwed now. They'll beat someone they're not supposed to beat and everyone will be impressed with how awesome they are.

  • In reply to Dpauley23:

    JUST TO CLARIFY:

Rose has an amazing OFFENSIVE performance, but where was his defense? The guys he guarded (Kidd and Beaubois) had very good nights.

I laugh at the TV commentators who brought up Noah being out, but failed to mention that Dallas was missing Haywood, Terry and Dampier. That saved them from a BLOWOUT.

Outside of that, Deng and Johnson should be embarrassed by their performances.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

What was so terrible about Johnson's performance?

  • In reply to Dpauley23:

No matter how close the Bulls got at any point, (3-6 points), I never had the feeling that Dallas wasn't in completer control of the game and could and would pull away whenever they wanted/needed to.

Does anyone still have any questions about how valuable a healthy Noah is to this team?

  • In reply to borg:

Wow the Bucks beat the Cavs without Lebron...why outta all games would they rest him tonight..Why not the other night AGAINST THE PISTONS!! Everybody is moving up the standings while the Bulls are slipping...I don't think anyone feels too good about the playoffs now...

  • In reply to joeacook3:

Bucks have had some good luck this year, played Miami without Wade twice, played the Cavs without Lebron, found Jerry Stackhouse with some game left, stole John Salmons from us plus our pick.

  • In reply to joeacook3:

Right now losses to the nets and kings will come back to haunt us down the stretch.

  • In reply to joeacook3:

As soon as I saw them sitting him, I wondered if they were playing the playoff picture. They do have an interest in who makes the 5th seed, after all.

  • In reply to joeacook3:

expect more 30 point games from derrick =) i wanna see him shine as much as possible.. go for 40 every niqht derrick -_- ..lmao cuz we def dont know how to score(deng & etc) if we fall outta the playoffs .. then bringin in 2 players is a must!.. lee & johnson anyone?

  • In reply to borg:

Man i cant believe we will miss the playoffs. Kirk let the rook abuse us and Dirk went insane in the 4th. Derrick did all he could but with no one around him there really isnt much hope. The bench stinks and Luol Deng is a mental case. This season was an utter waste especially if we end up with Joe Johnson in 2010.

  • In reply to Dpauley23:

Now where are those people saying I was being too negative by saying I was going to happy if the Bulls went 7-7?

I am looking at you Mr.Happy.

The way this team is heading playoffs are going to be tough

  • In reply to Dpauley23:

No or no Noah, the defense was just a train wreck. I know they're on a winning streak, but it seemed that we managed to play even the guys who weren't shooting well into form.

Rose was absolutely awesome though, it's hard to believe the knock on him coming into the league was his jumper, it's just so good now.

  • In reply to DontLetsStart:

It's hard to get any stops when you can't leave any since they all can knock down 3s at pretty good rate

  • In reply to Dpauley23:

I realise the Mavs are a good offensive team and to an extent it's pick your poison, but it was pretty clear leaving shooters open to double players just wasn't working, so you've got to try something else.

  • What really killed them is Butler and Najera both draining three 3's when they both are shooting under 25 percent on the year. I will say that Vinny's coaching the past 5 games has been pretty horrific and he needs to start making some adjustments instead of being so repetive.
