Deng may miss the rest of the season

Per KC Johnson:

And the news got worse as coach Vinny Del Negro hinted Luol Deng could be lost for the
season with a strained right calf. At the very least, Deng will miss an
additional two to three weeks after aggravating the injury March 17 in
Dallas.

Not unexpected at this point given the news had continually gotten worse and worse every time we had an update.

Plenty more time for James Johnson..

  • Luol Deng is closing in on having 3 out of 6 NBA seasons where he has played around 60 games.

    That's not good.

I think the Bulls need to move forward without him. They need to try and find away to trade him to a small market team, in need of a Small Forward. Teams like the Minnesota T-Wolves, the LA Clippers and possibly the Memphis Grizzlies come to mind (assuming Rudy Gay leaves).

  • In reply to MrHappy:

None of those scenarios are realistic. If Rudy Gay leaves Memphis, it's because they didn't want to give out a long term contract to their small forward. Why then would they accept a lesser small forward with a long term contract? Minnesota doesn't want Deng either, and that was made clear at the deadline. Finally, if you think LA is a small market, then somebody needs to put you back in elementary school. The Clips wouldn't want Deng either. You're going to have to face the fact that you're stuck with Deng, which could be problematic but isn't quite as bad as you make it seem.

  • In reply to WearShades:

I'm talking about the Clippers, not the Lakers.

The Clippers are small market compared to the Lakers.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

Minnesota wants to upgrade at SF. That is why they want Rudy Gay.

If they can't get Rudy Gay and lose out on Evan Turner in the draft, then maybe Deng becomes an option.

    I hope so.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

LA is still not a small market. The Clippers share the same ****ing stadium as the Lakers. Are you retarded or just uneducated?

  • In reply to evilhoban:

I think it's safe to say that the vast majority of LA basketball fans are Lakers fans, effectively making the Clippers a small(er) market.

But that in no way affects MrHappy's level of retardation.

  • In reply to MrHappy:

Deng has been an enormous bust. Once again paying someone huge dollars on "potential" has failed the fans, the Team, Reinsdorf while the only winner is Deng, his agent and the ever present union touting the strength of the system.Wake up! Unions cause more problems than they resolve.

  • Nothing new with Deng (Guy is hurt all the time) and Ya i pretty much agree with you. I really want to see some more James Johnson.

Maybe the Bulls visit that Deng for Al Jefferson trade again.

  • In reply to Csharp:

I kind of like my 3-team trade idea.

    To Bulls: David Lee
To T-Wolves: Luol Deng and compensation ($ and/or picks)
    To Knicks: Al Jefferson

John Paxson would have to get to David Lee and have him do a sign-and-trade.

  • Maybe a Deng for Rudy Gay trade might work.

  • In reply to Csharp:

    It wouldn't for Memphis.

  • In reply to WearShades:

Ultimately, I think Memphis keeps Rudy Gay.

The Bulls should try and steal David Lee from the Knicks and then force a sign-and-trade involving the Knicks and T-Wolves.

    (see trade idea above)
