Portland trades Outlaw/Blake ending several Bulls trade rumors

The Trailblazers moved Travis Outlaw and Steve Blake to the Clippers for Marcus Camby ending several popular trade rumors.   The first being a trade of Tyrus directly to the Blazers for one of the two + a 1st rounder, the second being the three way with the Lakers that saw Kirk Hinrich and Tyrus Thomas leaving the team.
I can't say I'm surprised.   The Kirk Hinrich three way in particular had the Blazers getting absolutely killed in the deal.

It does make you wonder though.   Would the Blazers have done one of Blake/Outlaw +1st for Tyrus?    The cash savings in the deal for them probably amounts to more value than the 1st round pick anyway given how much 1st rounders typically cost.

Would the Clippers have entertained Jerome James + Tyrus for Camby instead?    Though they wouldn't have saved anywhere near as much cash, and we know Donald Sterling loves to save his cash.

The trade also ends any possibility of Kirk Hinrich being moved to Portland.   Though that wasn't mentioned in the trade rumors so far this deadline, it was mentioned as a heavy rumor over the summer, so there was always some hope there.

Just a couple more days to see what the Bulls do.

  • I doubt anything will happen for the Bulls before Thursday. They have been linked to Allen, T Mac and (to a lesser extent) Amare. All of those deals will likely be dragged out to assure that their teams get the best deal possible.

I do wonder if the Bulls could offer J Fish, Kurt and TT for Allen or T Mac - that's a lot of talent offered by the Bulls, as well as luxury tax savings this year.

  • First off, I don't think that trade is FINALIZED yet. Secondly, I question WHAT THE HELL this Bulls management is doing.

I pointed out that there should be 6 BIG-MAN on the Bulls radar.

    SHORT-TERM:

Brendan Haywood (traded to the Mavs) and Marcus Camby (Blazers?)

    LONG-TERM:

Chris Bosh (not being traded, yet) and David Lee (same thing)

    IN-BETWEEN (LT or ST)

Amar'e Stoudemire (pursued by the Heat and Cavs) and Carlos Boozer (?)

I realize the Bulls management is made up of a bunch of IDIOTS. Afterall they did draft Doug's MAN-CRUSH, James Johnson (aka- A BUST). However, if they are planning to trade Tyrus Thomas, logic says they need another quality BIG-MAN in return in order to make a playoff run.

I can't wait to see what these IDIOTS (John Paxson and Gar Forman) come up with.

i think the reference to Doug's "MAN-CRUSH" is a little played out homie. that was in the beginning of the season when many of us, not just Doug, thought he had a little potential. I think we all realize, Doug included, that he has done nothing of value this year.

so I think you can stop trying to "diss" Doug about this already...find some new jokes.

    Homie,

Don't tell me you have a MAN-CRUSH on Doug or James Johnson?

  • In reply to djphillie:

If I'm John Paxson, I'm blocking that trade.

To Bulls: Marcus Camby and Rasual Butler
To Clippers: Tyrus Thomas, James Johnson and John Salmons (or Jerome James)

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yz9qrqq

    PG - Rose/Pargo
    SG - Hinrich/Brown
    SF - Deng/Butler
    PF - Camby/Gibson
    C - Noah/Miller

I'll take that team heading into the playoffs. It has 2nd Round capabilities.

  • So does this mean Al Harrington to the Bulls cause it seems like he is the only one left who the Bulls have been linked to recently...

Wait, if the Knicks are really trying to get T-Mac wouldn't Harrington have to be in the deal?!? So i guess this means THE BULLS ARE DOOMED AT THE DEADLINE!!!!

  • kirk hinrich will never leave the bulls.

  • In reply to pinkizdead:

I don't see it happening either.

  • In reply to pinkizdead:

    How about this 3-team trade?

To Bulls: David Lee and Darko Milicic
To Knicks: Amar'e Stoudemire and Tyrus Thomas
To Suns: Luol Deng, Jordan Hill, Chris Duhon and a draft pick

The Bulls would get DLEE and then go after DWADE in the off-season.

    PG - Rose
    SG - Wade
    SF - Salmons
    PF - Lee
    C - Noah

I think that team gets out of the Eastern Conference.

  • In reply to pinkizdead:

I knew Pritchard wasn't going to make any trades with an angle towards helping the Bulls. His idea of help, taking Tyrus for Aldridge, and three second round draft picks for Omer, I shoot 50% from the free throw line and have fallen and and I can't get up/injured, Asik.

Pax/Gar did a nice job drafting Taj and they were right/I was wrong about Noah. But savvy wheeler dealers? Looking back on it Salmons had one really good season, and a career history of shooting only one three pointer a game in almost every season. Miller was/is on his last legs. I guess maybe the Boston series was worth some kudos..? But if they get nothing done this deadline, other then moving Thomas, and Hinrich stays I'd say that's a pretty poor showing for Bulls fans.

  • In reply to pinkizdead:

This is the BLOCKBUSTER to make, if John Paxson wants to win a title.

To Bulls: David Lee and Darko Milicic
To Knicks: Amar'e Stoudemire and Tyrus Thomas
To Suns: Luol Deng, Jordan Hill, Chris Duhon and a draft pick

That sets the Bulls up for a trio consisting of DROSE, DLEE and DWADE.

    THIS JUST IN:

The Marcus Camby deal is now OFFICIAL.

I really do wish that everyone would stop thinking about D-Wade coming to chicago cause he's not. Trust me when I say D-wade is happy in Miami and has a better chance at attracting a big name free agent there. I mean don't get me wrong I would love to have him in a bulls uniform but I am thinking realisticly here. I do see Chris Bosh in Miami with D-Wade cause there was a report that not only does he want to win but he is also tired of the cold weather and we all know what its like in Chicago between november and april. Plus with all due respect I think that D-Wade feels like he has gotten a little too big for Chicago and he is a little bit too full of himself. All I can say is the Bulls had better do something cause I would'nt count on none of these big names James, Bosh, Joe Johnson, and especially Wade coming to Chicago cause the NBA is especially trying its best to hand Lebron James a champion ship by trying to give him an all star team in cleveland. So that leaves all the other players to team up to win a championship by themselves.

  • In reply to pinkizdead:

The only players I wish they would concentrate on trying to trade is Salmonds and maybe Hinrich cause the Bulls are not going to get anything in good in return. I would keep Tyrus till the end of the season to see if he can get his act together. I know he has worn out his welcome but this guy is going to be very good when he gets his head together.
