Point guards Deron Williams of Utah, Chicago's Derrick Rose and Boston's Rajon Rondo will make their All-Star Game debuts next month in Dallas, sources said Thursday.
Williams, Rondo and Rose top the list of reserves chosen by the league's coaches to participate in the Feb. 14 game at Cowboys Stadium. The names won't be made official until Thursday night, but Yahoo! Sports has obtained the list of reserves.
I think he's clearly deserving in the Eastern conference. Congratulations Derrick!
Joakim Noah didn't make it in with Al Horford or Chris Bosh taking the back up center role. Personally, I like Noah more than Horford, but I can't argue that pick much and I'm probably biased.
This is a huge boon to our hoops for success in 2010, because Rose will now be seen, even moreso, as a player to want to pair up with.

I am so happy. We as bulls fans truly deserve this for all the years of hardship. Rose has been amazing this season so far. I cant wait to get an 8x10 Rose all-star picture and frame it and put it on my wall.
This is like a Bday present to me. So stoked, extremely happy for Rose, and the fans of Chicago finally getting something after 10 years.
I know its a pop. contest, but having an allstar on the team does matter when it comes to recruitment and future viability. Shouldn't, but it def. does.
Sweetness. Rose has been a beast lately and deserves it. Love having a player again who demoralizes teams in the 4th quarter.
As for Horford eghhhhh not really impressed with that pick. I think Josh Smith and David Lee were more deserving. The Knicks with out David Lee are a 5 win team and Josh Smith has played under control this year.

This use to be a rule, but I dont know if it still is. If a player was selected to play in the All-Star game, they weren't able to play in the Rook-Soph game.
I am with a few people on here. David Lee should be an All-Star. It would be nice to see KG or Paul Pierce step aside and let DLEE take their spot.
Why would you suggest KG or Pierce before you suggest AI? Personally, I agree with the "it's the fan's game" philosophy, but if you're going to take someone who's "not deserving" out, shouldn't it be AI? His absence would push one of the reserve guards to the starting spot and open up a wild card slot for Lee.
If I'm Derrick Rose, I'm only passing the ball to 4 guys. That would Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Joe Johnson and LeBron James. That's it, unless David Lee ends up on the team somehow.

Since Rose made the all star team, does that mean he wont play in the rookie v. sophmore game or does he do both. Thats a hell of a weekend when you include the skills challenge. I dont want him too tired when he returns...
He will do both. But i don't think its that concerning. The skills challenge is 2-3 rounds of a 1 minute drill. The rookie game is a 40 min game, he will probably play max 30 minutes, and remember there's no defense, so it won't take a lot out of him.
Same with all star game, expect he will probably play around 15 minutes.
He won't be too tired..

I think its dumb that the coaches punish all star caliber players for playing on crap teams. If those teams had good records, those players' production would not have changed. Its just the talent around them.
David Lee is playing much better than Garnett, and Gasol has missed almost half the games Chris Kaman is playing better.

Hopefully, DROSE gets some good run (aka court-time) with DWADE, CB4, Joe Johnson and LeBron James. It will be interesting to see if he forms any on-court chemistry with one or more of those guys.

Not to rain on DROSE's All-Star parade, but I have some news about Amar'e Stoudemire.
I was listening to KTAR 620 in Phoenix, just for fun, to see what they are saying about Amar'e Stoudemire. That is the radio station covers the Phoenix Suns.
According to them, there are talks going on with the Suns and the Bulls regarding Amar'e Stoudemire. Here's the pieces they seem to think that are being discussed.
To Bulls: Amare Stoudemire and Jarron Collins
To Suns: Kirk Hinrich, Taj Gibson and Jerome James

Now according to them, if a trade involving the Bulls and Suns could go down SOONER RATHER THAN LATER, but if they can't work out the pieces, then Phoenix will take the best offer at the trade-deadline, including expiring contracts.
If I were John Paxson, I would not do that trade.

Do that deal for Amare in a New York minute. Amare is better than Taj. Losing Hinrich is a plus. James is an expiring contract for them. Worst case scenario, Amare opts out of his contract for a max contract, the Bulls don't re-sign him and they have max room available to sign a summer free agent. It's all good for the Bulls.
I don't understand that deal for Phoenix. What would they do with Hinrich?

They seems to think Phoenix would want Hinrich and Gibson and would want to deal with the Bulls SOONER THAN LATER, as opposed to teams like Miami or New Jersey, who they would deal with at the trade-deadline itself.

Yea, regardless of the source, I doubt they would let Amare go this early for a deal like that. We would be in great shape for the summer and possibly one move away from keeping Amare and signing Wade. I would do the deal but it seems highly unlikly. Unless its one of the deals where the team is just on a fire sale like Pau in Memphis.

As for who got shafted, three names come to mind: David Lee, Monta Ellis and Chris Kaman. Monta and Kaman are shit out of luck because I wouldn't exactly replace anyone with them (unless Roy can't play, then Monta or Chauncey may get picked up). But in the East, no way Horford should get there before Lee. Lee has way better numbers. Horford just plays for a better team.
Minor shout out to Deron Williams. Bulls fans were complaining about a potential snub for Rose when Williams has been getting shafted for years now.
