Bulls.com: Tyrus' x-rays aren't good.
Chicago Bulls forward Tyrus Thomas suffered a fractured radius of his left forearm during a weight training session this morning at practice. X-rays confirmed the injury and he will undergo surgery tomorrow. The surgery will be performed at Rush, by team physicians Dr. Brian Cole and Dr. John Fernandez, and assisted by Dr. Mark Cohen.
Thomas is expected to be out four to six weeks.
Do you want more Taj? I hope so. Because you're getting more Taj.

I just posted this on the prev. thread, but did they give any indication how exactly this occured lifting weights? I assume no, otherwise you would have told us..but somethings not right about this...pretty strange coincidence given the events of the week..
I think Tyrus is a complete idiot, but it's not like you can fake a broken arm. It's just not in the cards for Tyrus this season. Bad to worse.
UNLEASH JAMES JOHNSON!!!
i 2nd that motion. James Johnson seems like he can be a huge contributor off the the bench. I don't know why Vinny will not put him in rotation. We need all the help we can get at this point. I saw some footage on JJ on youtube during his college career. He is a scorer. HE reminds me of a young paul pierce. hahah.
This injury probably means more Deng at PF. And if that happens, things open up for Johnson. Positive from a negative.
This, I can live with.
Vinny said Tyrus was doing a pull-up. I don't know how one breaks their arm doing a pull-up, but hey things happen. Also, how is a broken arm only a 4-6 week injurey? I've never broken my arm so I don't know.
I've torn a neck muscle standing in a carpark, pulled a back muscle when getting up from a seat, had a slight tear in a knee ligament while warming up to play a football match, and dislocated my ring finger when scratching my leg. The human body can break itself in all manner of silly ways.
Of course, this is mainly my fault for being so very out of shape.
I hear you. I'm actually in pretty good shape, and hurt myself yesterday just shooting baskets. My knee just gave out on me, ridiculous.
completely off topic, hay mark do you know where the university of warwick is?
Yeah. Why?
I know where Hakim Warrick is, he's in Milwaukee. Wow, I'm bored, sorry.
I've got a horrible feeling that I know why he asked this......
my sister moved there. i'm supposed to visit her in coventry eventually. why'd you get a horrible feeling?
My brother went there. I thought you were going to say you knew him. If you were, I would have had to kill you.
wow God just doesnt want the Tyrus bulls relationship to work. Hey Mark do you see the Bulls signing anyone? if so who is availble that still has something left? Didnt Raja Bell and Francisco Garcia get hurt working out?
Best option is to just bump up Noah and Millers minutes
No play James asap.
im kinda glad because tyrus's playing has been more of a liability of him forcing dumb shots. i used to like tyrus, until he developed a "jump shot," or at least he thought. i remember vinny telling the media he tells tyrus to just keep taking that shot, and then we dont see him in the 4th quarter. if tyrus wont be here next year, and he hurts the team more than helps, why not develop the players that will be with us next year.
Good Luck Tyrus...
Here's hoping the young man heals well from his injury.
Chris Richard, anyone?
Speaking of, this is why we didn't keep Derrick Byars. If we now need to bring in extra big man depth, we can do so without paying the tax. Had we kept on Byars, this was basically impossible.
They didn't keep Derrick Byars because the Bulls are CHEAP and PETTY. Let's not go through that again. I mean, what would you be saying if Luol Deng or John Salmons went down with an injury?
I'd be saying "sign some wing depth," of course. Because we'd need it then.
I'm hearing that the Memphis Grizzlies might sign Chris Richard.
I get your point about them having flexibility.
Do you understand why I wanted the Bulls to keep Derrick Byars? First, I thought he played well enough to stay. Second, I thought he would help with their 3pt. shooting. Third, I thought he would play in front of Hunter. Fourth, I think Pargo is erractic, at best. Fifth, I figured James Johnson would struggle.
It doesn't matter though. He ended up in a good situation. At the end of the day, you made good points and I tried to show you mine. I apologize, if it got too personal.
my god, would you please give the whole Byars thing a rest. I liked Byars, alot. He was a longshot, and instead of hogging the ball playing selfishly, he played team basketball. He was a good player. And the bulls arent cheap for not keeping him, as was said in an earlier article, they kept him a few extra days so they could pay him more. They didnt have to do that.
Please, stop whining about it. Just stop it. I am just sick of comming here everyday reading your whiny comments about how a preseason 2nd round draft choice that did make it in the nba the 1st time around, is the answer to our 3pt scoring woes. It was preseason, he came in the game when the 2nd or 3rd unit of players were in. so he didnt get guarded well, and that explains his high percentage shot.
and stop calling out doug and mark, as if they dont know anything about basketball. You disrespect them all the time with ur sassy remarks, youre acting childish.
sorry to others who read this and think it may have been too harsh, but it had to be done.
*didn't* make it in the nba the 1st time around,
I brought up Byars this time, so he's off the hook.
Wow there are some real idiots that post on this site
This is exactly what I was thinking when I heard the news. Of course to be fair to Mr. Happy I still don't see the Bulls signing anyone because they can't do 10 days until January.
I broke my arm in January of this year. Its possible you can come back in that time frame, especially if you are having it surgically fused back together. Its getting the muscles back from the weakened state that is the time consuming part...
I've heard that about the muscles. I imagine this isn't much of a break too, that is it's probably a hairline fracture.
Oh, no doubt he actually broke his arm, its the "how" that im curious to know
