Andres Nocioni arrested for DUI

No, I can't quite believe it either.

Per KCRA.com - or any of the hundreds of other places that carry the story - former Bulls and current Kings forward Andres Nocioni has been arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Sacramento Kings player Andres Nocioni has been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, police said.

Police Sgt. Norm Leong said Nocioni was stopped while driving in downtown Sacramento at about 2 a.m. Thursday.

Leong said Nocioni's vehicle was seen weaving and an officer smelled the odor of alcohol on Nocioni's breath.

Did you ever think Nocioni would be a criminal? Neither did I. But there it is; arrested and booked for DUI, the classic charge of the NBA criminal. His time in Sacramento has not gone well; the team won only 17 games last year, and don't figure to be much better this year either. But now his bad times have been compounded with this arrest. Not cool.

The list of recent ex-Bulls to have criminal records grows ever longer. Nocioni (DUI), JamesOn Curry (public urination and possession with intent to supply), Ben Gordon (third degree assault and disorderly conduct), Tommy Smith (kidnapping, aggravated assault and intimidation), Frank Wiliams (possession), J.R. Smith (reckless driving), Marcus Fizer (unlawful aggressive use of an illegal firearm; traffic violations; carrying a loaded concealed weapon), Scott Skiles (possession), Ron Artest (lots of things) and Corie Blount (felony drug possession and drug trafficking; currently in jail) are some of the names on that list. And they're just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

As for current Bulls with criminal records, that list starts and ends with Joakim Noah. I think. I hope.

  • Bad news for Noc but i would love to see the tape of him drunk and trying to explain himself to the cop. He always had a funny voice. Hopefully things turn up for him, he really needs to be traded to a contender. I'd love to see him on the cavs. I think he would be a great fit off playing between Bron and shaq at pf at times.

  • Wait, what did Skiles get arrested for?

  • In reply to Dmband:

Arrested for possession of cocaine and marijuana, then re-arrested and sentenced to 30 days in jail (served 15) for violation of parole.

DUI and One Degree of Separation

I'd say each one of us knows someone that has a DUI.

Nocioni is a good guy with a bad evening. He will pay the price in many ways. He should be grateful nobody was harmed.

As for the list of Chicago Bulls with criminal charges and/or records, it's not newsworthy. If you took your 8th grade class and listed their arrests and crimes, it would sound just as bad.

Let's hope Nocioni gets some good counseling for his DUI, to prevent others in the future.

When was Skiles arrested for this? not while he was a coach. Must have been as a player.
