K.C. Johnson: Rose returns to practice

From K.C.'s blog:

For one day, the Derrick Rose questions can cease.

The second-year guard is practicing at the Berto Center with no
limitations, including participation in contact drills. Reporters
haven't been granted access yet, so check back for updates.

Obviously this is a good thing given that there was fear about him missing the home opener.  Hopefully he's able to go in Friday's preseason game so that the team can get some continuity playing with him.   However, if there's any pain, swelling, redness, fluid, etc.. expect him to sit out Friday's game as a precautionary measure.

  • I understand the need to be cautious. At the same time, listen to the kid. It doesn't hurt anymore, and he wants to play. This reminds me of a smaller-scale version of Michael's broken ankle and how the Bulls treated his return. Have a little faith in what the players are telling you. Especially considering that if Rose is limited in the first week or two of the regular season, get ready for a 3-7 start with that gauntlet of an opening schedule they have.

  • Rose practicing is good news, I was afraid that we would have the to watch a whole game of Hinrich circle dribbling while he was eating the shot clock!!!!

Better news for Hinrich. When the clock is down to 3 seconds, he has to stop the circle dribbling and pass to ball off to someone!
Hinrich can't beat any one off the dribble and he is too slow and afraid to go to the rim! We all know that he is not a clutch shooter

  • In reply to Alex:

hinrich has been good this preseason. and he sure looked pretty clutch against orlando. also, rose so far hasnt exactly been made of clutch.

  • In reply to Alex:

I don't have a problem w/ the Bulls sitting Rose for the preseason and practice. Dude is young, of course he's going to want to play even if he shouldn't. I'm OK with him sitting opening day if it ensures his ankle is healed.

  • In reply to Alex:

Just get him healed. This injury has started to worry me a bit. I didn't think much of it, but knowing where it is on his body and knowing how bad tendon injuries can be I've become a bit nervous. Hopefully I'm over reacting.

  • Check out the Rock Report on ChicagoNow.com especially this Bulls blog!!
