Sweetney gets candid....ish

Sorry if the Sweetney updates bore you, but I love them.

BostonHerald.com: Former Bull Michael Sweetney talks about disliking Scott Skiles, and where he's been for two years.

The week collapsed before Mike Sweetney could start his comeback.

After spending roughly 1 years away from basketball, the veteran power forward signed on with the Celtics [team stats] for a stint in this week's summer league in Orlando, Fla.

But Sweetney pulled a hamstring 15 minutes into his first game Monday, and spent the rest of his week getting treatment.

At the link, there are some comments from Sweetney about his time in Chicago, describing the situation as "rough," and mentioning his disapproval towards Scott Skiles.
It's not exactly the most candid interview in the world - although Sweetney's mention of a "family issue" and losing 40 lbs are both intriguing developments in his ongoing weight story - but it's an intriguing snippet that further highlights the turmoil that marred the end of the Skiles era.

If even the reportedly easy going Michael Sweetney had a problem with him, then the Bulls implosion was no charade.

What Sweetney did that he admits was so unprofessional, though, I'm not sure of. Answers on a postcard.

  • Ah, the old stage coach, that's what my brother in-law calls Sweetney. I hope he can make it back to the leauge, he seems like a nice kid. Also, he's got those sweet post moves and he's great at pulling his own jersey, which is nice.

I loved Skiles as a coach, but I always thought the way he threw players under the bus, to the media, was rough. It did make for great press conferences though. His retort about what Curry could do to improve his rebounding is an all time classic.
