Nuggets inquiring about Deng?

From the ever vague, espnchicago twitter:

Nuggets inquiring about Deng.

(edit) FWIW, someone on realgm said they originally tweeted that it was Deng + James for Martin which ends our 2010 plan making this all the more unlikely for us to consider (/edit) Not sure why the Nuggets would want Deng.  I mean Deng and Carmelo are both pure SFs, and Deng has a ridiculous contract for a team with a pure SF to pursue him.   Even a team with a big hole at SF would be stretching to go after Deng at this point.

  • their podcasts are interesting to say the least. I hope the inquiry surrounded Martin. We could use him at the PF rotation. I'm not sold on Gibson and Deng contract is wack.

  • Doug,

Assuming this particular trade isn't exactly about to happen, what are your thoughts, more generally speaking, about moving Deng for a 2010 ending deal? More importantly, what do you think the Bulls feel about such a scenario?

  • I gotta agree, I don't see any reason that Denver would take Deng. But I wouldn't be sad to see him go for an expiring.

  • The only Martin I'd give up Deng for, is Kevin. I'm not saying that's realistic, but Kenyon Martin doesn't even come close for me.

  • Never liked Martin as a basketball player or as a human being.

I like his $16.5 million contract in 2010-11 even less.

While I am less than a fan of Deng's contract and not much of a fan of his game, especially the recidivist version of the past 2 seasons, I would not include Johnson as an additional asset in a Deng salary dump.

Look, I tried to trade Deng to Miami before the Rose draft for the #2 pick so that we could land Beasely, so I am definately looking to move the guy, but we are stuck with him at least until he proves that he is healthy and puts up deceptively good numbers, which he might be able to do in the absence of Mr. Offense(Ben Gordon).

Best case scenario we move Deng at the trade deadline in a blockbuster for a 2010 free agent star.

  • Actually, that was 2 summers ago when Deng was a restricted free agent and property of the Bulls so I think that he was indeed tradable before the draft. you probably know the particulars better than I do, but I think that this is the case.

Riley was supposedly not very enthusiatic about Beasely, and Deng was a more marketable commodity than he was this past offseason.

Plus we had numerous other assets that we could have thrown into the deal. I would have offered Gordon and Deng if need be.

Beasely has an attitude problem, but he is a natural born scorer, his stroke reminds me of Michael Redd, could be the leftly thing.

Miami was and still is desperate to be better immediately to appease Wade, so anything was possable. I think that Miami would have had much more interest than the Bulls at that point in time.

By the way if you are the 3rd pick in the draft or the 7th pick in the draft, and you can't be traded for a corresponding draft pick after you have been in the league for 4 years, then you are a bust.

That is why I wanted to S$T Gordon this summer for Washingtons 5th pick. My target was DeRozen. He has to be better than Randy Foye and a broken down Mike Miller.
