Recognizing that it was Jerry Angelo’s poor draft record that ultimately led to his demise as the Chicago Bears’ GM, Phil Emery must be cognizant that he needs some draft wins, especially in the early rounds, if his legacy is to end with better results.
In his first draft, Emery took a chance on a pick that many felt was a reach in Shea McClellin, then insisted that the Bears’ first-round pick was a DE. While that pick hasn’t panned out thus far, he has scored hits with the likes of Alshon Jeffery and Kyle Long, and he hopes to add to his wins with this year’s selections.
So let’s review the early returns, knowing that it will take some time before the final results are known.
