Following the unexpected retirement of Bears’ WR Devin Thomas on Sunday, the Bears announced today that they would bring in a replacement.
The team re-signed veteran WR and special teams contributor Rashied Davis to a one year deal on Monday.
Davis spent a season up in Detroit during 2011, where he saw action on special teams, wide receiver, and cornerback at one point.
A free agent this off-season, the 33 year-old veteran was not exactly a hot commodity on the open market, but the Bears bringing him back definitely adds pressure to second-year player Dane Sanzenbacher, and forces him to step up his game on special teams.
Davis played in Chicago from 2005 to 2010 and tallied just 1,032 yards receiving and five touchdowns.
