Devin Hester Named NFC Special Teams Player of the Month

LAKE FOREST, IL – Chicago Bears WR Devin Hester was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for the month of October after recording eight punt returns for 130 yards (16.3 avg.) with a 69-yard touchdown and nine kickoff returns for 278 yards (30.9 average) with a 98-yard score. Hester was the only player in the NFL to record both a kickoff and punt return touchdown in October. His punt return touchdown was the 11th of his career, which set an NFL record, breaking a tie with Eric Metcalf (10).

The University of Miami (FL) product now has 16 kick return touchdowns in his career (11 punt, five kickoff), with the two touchdowns in October extending his NFL record. He also has 17 return touchdowns (11 punt, five kickoff, one missed field goal) during his six-year career, tied for second most in NFL history with Hall of Famer Rod Woodson, trailing Hall of Famer Deion Sanders (19).

This is Hester’s third career Player of the Month Award (December 2006 and September 2007), most in franchise history.
