Devin Hester and Julius Peppers Named to All-Pro Team

LAKE FOREST, IL - Chicago Bears KR Devin Hester and DE Julius Peppers were named to the Associated Press' NFL All-Pro team today. The Bears were the only team in the NFC with multiple representatives on the team.

Peppers was named to the All-Pro team for the third time in his career (2004 and 2006) and first as a member of the Bears after tying for the team lead with eight sacks, leading the team with 23 quarterback pressures, ranking third on the team with six tackles for losses and tied for fourth with two interceptions and seven pass break ups. Peppers was an significant part of a Bears defense that finished third in the NFL in offensive points allowed with 256, tied for third with 35 takeaways, second in rushing defense (90.1 yards per game) and third in opponent quarterback passer rating (74.4). The Bears also finished second in three-and-out drives forced (57), fifth in yards per play allowed (5.0) and sixth in opponent third down percentage (34.7).

Hester was named to the All-Pro team for the third time (2006 and 2007). He led the NFL with a 17.1 punt return average (33 for 564 yards), three punt return touchdowns and nine punt returns of 20-plus yards. His 17.1 yards per return is highest in NFL single-season history among players with 30-plus returns. Hester also led the NFL in kickoff return average (35.6 ypr, 12 for 427) among players with 10-plus returns. In 2010, Hester broke the NFL's all-time kick return touchdown mark with his 14th, surpassing Brian Mitchell (13).
