Los Angeles based quintet Everest has been in Chicago for a July residency consisting of eleven shows.  One of those shows was an acoustic performance at Uncommon Ground in Lakeview (part of Uncommon Ground’s 20 year anniversary celebration) on Wednesday, July 20, 2011.  Before that set, Russell Pollard (vocals, guitar, drums, lyricist) and Jason Soda (guitar, keys, vocals) sat down for a wide ranging fifteen minute chat that hit on topics like the city of Chicago, Wilco, Neil Young, the recording studio, the internet and more. The Jayhawks played the Taste of Chicago for the third time last week as the headliners of WXRT’s annual free concert. In 1993, the band performed in support of their acclaimed major label debut album Hollywood Town Hall with both Gary Louris and Mark Olson in the fold as the opening act for Matthew Sweet.  By the time they played The Taste again in 2000 (again as the opener for Matthew Sweet), Mark Olson had left the band to pursue solo interests...
