This is your guide to catching the best live music in Chicago this week both in the city and throughout the suburbs.  September ends with a busy week at United Center as Prince kicks off his three night, "Welcome 2 Chicago" residency plus a full performance of the So album by Peter Gabriel... In The City...

Chicago World Music Festival (Monday through Thursday) -Seven days of free live music at nearly twenty venues throughout the city.  Click here for the full schedule of events.

Prince: "Welcome 2 Chicago" residency (Three shows at 8PM on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at United Center.  Each show is $40-163, All Ages) - Janelle Monae opens on Wednesday.  Doors open at 5PM each night and fans are invited to check out the "Rebuild the Dream" Village on-site at United Center.

The Official Purple After Jam (Three shows at midnight on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at House of Blues.  Each show is $89-164 in advance, $114-164 day of show.  Three day passes are SOLD OUT)

Nightwish (6PM Monday at Congress Theater. $17-125, All Ages) - Kamelot opens.

Robbie Fulks (7PM Monday at the Hideout. $10 suggested donation, 21+) - Don Stiernberg also performs.
