In The City...

Joan Osborne (Acoustic Duo Residency) (8PM Monday at City Winery.  $25-40, All Ages) - Megan Reilly opens.

Maximo Park (8PM Monday at Schubas. $18, 18+) - Stagnant Pools and The Neighbourhood open.  *** This show was moved from Lincoln Hall to Schubas ***

Robbie Fulks - Happy Birthday Hank Williams (7PM Monday at the Hideout. $10 suggested donation, 21+)

David Byrne and St. Vincent (8PM Tuesday at Chicago Theatre.  All Ages, SOLD OUT)

John Mayall (8PM Tuesday at Mayne Stage. $60, 18+) - Pegi Young & The Survivors open.

Local H (8PM Tuesday at Bottom Lounge. $15, 17+) - Ambassadors open.

The Strawbs (acoustic) and John Wesley Harding (8PM Tuesday at City Winery. $22-30, All Ages) -

Cloud Nothings (7PM Tuesday at Lincoln Hall.  $14, All Ages) - Coffin Ships and Chomp open.  *** Originally scheduled for two nights, the Wednesday 9/19 show has been cancelled due to unavoidable scheduling conflicts. Ticket buyers have been contacted. All tickets purchased for 9/19 will be honored on 9/18 *** 

GZA (8PM Wednesday at Metro. $20, 18+) - Killer Mike, Sweet Valley and Bear Hands also perform.  *** GZA performing Liquid Swords ***

Akasha (8PM Wednesday at Martyrs'. $8, 21+) - Treehouse and Hood Smoke also perform.

Hatebreed (6PM Wednesday at House of Blues.  All Ages, SOLD OUT) - Whitechapel, All Shall Perish and Deez Nuts open.

Richard Thompson (8PM Wednesday at City Winery.  All Ages, SOLD OUT) - Amy Cook opens.

Madonna (Two shows at 8PM Wednesday and Thursday at United Center.  All Ages, both shows are SOLD OUT)

Everest (8PM Thursday at Abbey Pub. 21+, FREE)

The Lumineers (7:30PM Thursday at the Riviera Theatre.  All Ages, SOLD OUT) - The Commettes open.  (The Lumineers also perform a sold out show on Friday, 9/21/12 at the Logan Square Auditorium)

Matthew Sweet (Two shows at 8PM on Thursday and Friday at City Winery. Each show is $30-40, All Ages) - The Mastersons and the Summer Twins open.

Willie Nelson (8PM Thursday at Chicago Theatre. $63-88, All Ages)

John Mayall (7:30PM Wednesday at Viper Alley in Lincolnshire. $25-50, 21+) - Jimmy Nick & Don't Tell Mama open.  Premium booth seating as well as pre show meet and greet passes are also available.

Mavis Staples (7:30PM Wednesday at the Blizzard Theatre at Elgin Community College in Elgin. $35-38, All Ages)

Richard Thompson (7PM Thursday at SPACE in Evanston.  All Ages, SOLD OUT)

    Jim Ryan

    Jim Ryan has written about music in print and online for a variety of Chicagoland publications for over fifteen years. In addition to duties filling in as Traffic Anchor on CLTV or in the helicopter on NBC 5, you can also catch him Sunday nights at 6PM central as host of "The Rock N' Roll Radio Program" on AM 1420 WIMS and AM 1060 WHFB (streaming at and via the TuneIn Radio app for the smart phone or tablet). Jim has also worked locally for WXRT-FM, lives within walking distance of the Metro and is an avid White Sox and Blackhawks fan whose first live concert experience came at Comiskey Park in 1984 during the Jacksons' "Victory" tour.
