This is your guide to catching the best live music in Chicago this weekend both in the city and throughout the suburbs... This weekend, Lewis Black continues his week in Chicago with three more shows at the new City Winery while 311 hits the lakefront... Plus, Rakim, Slick Rick, Monica, Robin Thicke and more take over the west side... And, suburban appearances from Marshall Crenshaw, Foreigner, Jason Aldean and Mary Chapin Carpenter.  All of this plus much more...

 

In The City...

Lewis Black (Three shows at 8PM on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at City Winery.  All Ages, SOLD OUT)

Katie Todd Band and Joe Robinson (9PM Friday at Martyrs'. $10, 21+) - Johnny & Robbie also perform.

311 (6:30PM Friday at Charter One Pavillion at Northerly Island. $60, All Ages) - Slightly Stoopid and The Aggrolites open.

Brian Jonestown Massacre (9PM Saturday at Metro. $20, 18+) - Magic Castles open.

Shannon Brown's Wood-Star Music Festival (4PM Saturday and Sunday in Union Park.  Doors open at 2PM each day.  All Ages.  $55 each day or $100 for a two day pass.) - Robin Thicke, Monica, Estelle, Dawn Richard and Fantasia perform on Saturday.  Doug E. Fresh, Slick Rick, Rakim, MC Lyte, and Naughty By Nature perform on Sunday.

Jim has also worked locally for WXRT-FM, lives within walking distance of the Metro and is an avid White Sox and Blackhawks fan whose first live concert experience came at Comiskey Park in 1984 during the Jacksons' "Victory" tour.
