Chicago Weekend Music Spotlight: St. Patrick's Day Edition!  Live Music Highlights, Friday 3/16/12 - Sunday 3/18/12

This is your guide to catching the best live music both in the city and throughout the suburbs.  This weekend, the green beer will be flowing with a bunch of live music to catch on St. Patrick's Day as artists like Gaelic Storm, The Tossers, Flatfoot 56 and Ike Reilly perform throughout Chicago.  Elsewhere, Levon Helm arrives in Lincoln Square for a benefit, a rare pair of appearances in the city from Fiona Apple, and even William Shatner gets in on the fun.  Things continue on Monday with The Black Keys so there's really no reason not to make it a long weekend...

Gaelic Storm (9PM Friday at the Riviera Theatre. $41, 18+)

The Tossers (9PM Friday at Metro. $22, 18+) - We Are The Union, The Arrivals and Kevin Flynn & The Avondale Ramblers open.

Toots & The Maytals (9PM Friday at House of Blues. $30, 17+) - The Constellations open.

Welcome to Ashley (9PM Friday at Township. $7, 21+) - Pistols at Dawn and Fly Over State open. Welcome to Ashley return for a one-off reunion show.

William Shatner (8PM Friday at the Auditorium Theatre. $65-319, All Ages)

Levon Helm's Midnight Ramble (Friday and Saturday at the Old Town School of Folk Music. $250, All Ages) - With special guest Donald Fagen of Steely Dan both nights.  Paul Barrere and Fred Tackett of Little Feat open on Friday.  Shawn Mullins opens on Saturday. This is a benefit for the Old Town School of Folk Music. A silent auction, drinks and light supper starts at 5:30PM.  Concert starts at 8PM.
