This February has been cold and snowy so far and according to the predictions of a certain groundhog we can expect six more weeks of the same. But one of the premier cultural institutions in Chicago is free all month, a perfect escape from the cold.
I am, of course, talking about the Art Institute of Chicago which this year continues a tradition of extending free admission for the entire month of February. I keep running into Chicagoans that, upon learning I work in the arts, apologetically admit that they have still not been by the new Modern Wing. Well, this month is the perfect time to drop by and see the new building and remove some odd sense of art-guilt. Enjoy the free admission to one of the world's most important cultural institutions, before the short month of February ends.
*In the interest of total disclosure I should mention that I am employed by the Art Institute, two days a week in an hourly, part-time position.
