Stay Warm for FREE this Chicago December!

Brrrrr! It's getting cold here in Chicago! But don't worry, there are still tons of places you can go for free this December to warm up! Not having to pay that gas bill will be nice for a change.

The Garfield Park Conservatory- a little piece of summer in the middle of the snow-covered city! This gorgeous conservatory is open year-round and always toasty warm.

There are quite a few free events at the Conservatory this December:

Their annual holiday flower display is a bit smaller this year due to the damaged show-hall, but the flowers are still gorgeous and the event is still FREE! November 24th- January 6th

November through December 9th, the Conservatory is hosting "Chicago's Twelve", a new art exhibit where "Through interaction with environmental issues, the re-purposing of found objects, and utilization of non-traditional material, the twelve artists displaying pieces in this exhibit call into question not only our present relationship with our world, but also the possibility of its sustainable future."

On Sunday, December 2nd, celebrate the season by enjoying the melodies of various choral groups throughout the Conservatory, including The Garfield Park/Off the Street Club Neighborhood Choir of Chicago’s Children’s Choir, as well as Wicker Park Sings and west side songstress, Bonnie Watts. Free holiday activities and refreshments!

If you would like to see the Conservatory's full calendar of events, check out their website.

Other places in Chicago to stay warm:

The Art Institute of Chicago is open for free to Illinois residents the first and second Wednesdays of the month. If you have never visited the Art Institute, I strongly recommend visiting it.

The Museum of Science and Industry is free to Illinois residents on December 3rd, and is another great place to stay warm this chilly December. You can check out their exhibits and holiday activities at their website.
