Last night's game at the United Center featured two East Conference heavyweights in a thrilling match-up. The Chicago Bulls hosted the Miami Heat in clash of NBA Finals contenders, which ended in dramatic fashion with a triple by Loul Deng in the final seconds of the game.
Show Some Respect!: Kanye West Booed At The United Center
The fans were really excited for the team and they did a great job to add some home-advantge, which you clearly see was, affecting Chris Bosh (he went 1-18). It would have been a perfect night for Chicago, if not for a disrespectful action the fans in the stands made.
The Chicago Tribune reported that fans started to boo Hip-Hop superstar Kanye West, when he arrived late in first-quarter.
Now maybe I could understand that behavior back in '09, after he interrupted Taylor Swift at the VMA's, but Kanye has redeemed himself a number of times and should have been forgiven a long time ago.
I would also have expected it from any other place --but--Chicago. West resurrected Hip-Hop in Chicago, not only by making hit after hit, but also he helped Common and Rhymefest get mainstream attention and he was the first to showcase the talent of a young Chicago MC --back in 2006--named Wasalu Muhammad Jaco, better known as Lupe Fiasco.
This is the same person that made an anthem for Chicago, in which he states his love for the Windy City. This is the same guy who always try to give something to the community, who always represents the people that need it the most.
He may make some controversial comments here and there, yet everybody has the right to express their opinion. And he mmight be a little crazy, nevertheless every genius is a mad man.
People booing Kanye yesterday just showed their ignorance and lack of respect for a Chicago personality that has done more good to the city than most of us.
