Cece Gonzales and Melinda Joseph, the dynamic duo behind Cece & Melinda with Raymi Productions, are known in the city for such fabulous events like Shop IN Chicago, The Taste of the Gold Coast, and Who is Chicago to name a few. If you have been to one of their signature events, you know these two lovely ladies not only know how to host a great party, but always look fierce while doing it too!
Describe your personal fashion philosophy.
Cece: Since Melinda and I are always putting together outfits for our own events that we produce and host and many other events around the city that we also attend, my best advice is: Don't let the outfit wears you, YOU wear the outfit! It's all about confidence! There are certain people that love labels, they would do everything and spend lots of money to have a shirt with the name of the brand, just to show off, I find this very interesting. I personally have some name brands, outfits or accessories but I buy whatever calls my attention and it does not have to be label! You can be wearing a $200 dollars dress but it is your attitude and your confidence that will make that dress look like a $1000 dress! Also buy whatever you feel will combine with whatever you already have in your closet. Dressy, classy and sexy!
Melinda: Producing Shop IN Chicago bi-annually has really helped to immerse me in the fashion industry. I find the commonality in everything that I wear is about clean lines and making a statement, looking polished and feminine, and calling attention to your outfit based on its style, never being too revealing.
Do you love to wear any particular designers when you have an event? Any labels you love to wear out in the city?
Cece: Because one of our bi-annual events is Shop IN Chicago where we support and promote the local Chicago designers, I personally support our Chicago talented designers, Horacio Nieto, Hector Javier Monarrez, Miriam Cecilia Carlson, Bryan Osbourn, Fraley Le, and Diego Rocha among others.
Melinda: Cece and I love to support the local Chicago designers, there's so much talent here! It's such a great way to promote them. I believe Cece named them all!
Where are your go to beauty stops in Chicago? Any spas, salons, stores, or gyms you just can't live without?
Cece: Since we have so many sponsors in the beauty category, it would be unfair for us to
just pick one as a favorite, but we for sure we can't live without a nice manicure, pedicure, waxing and facials ! After our events, we are exhausted and we do massages to relax!
I love to go to the water aerobics at the Fitness Formula Club! I only have a few months to get in shape until The Taste of the Gold Coast so that I can eat everything that I want from all the participating restaurants!
Melinda: Since we do have so many sponsors in these categories we give our business to a variety of salons and spas for basic grooming and after-event pampering! Since January 1st, I have been working out at the Gold Coast Fitness Formula Club! (I am proud of myself for sticking to my New Year's resolution!)
