New Years Eve Pressure: Even parents feel it

New Years Eve Pressure: Even parents feel it
So you think the pressure to do something big and exciting on New Years Eve ends after you get married and have children – well it doesn’t.  You have a short reprieve right after you have kids, and they’re still too young to know exactly what the night is all about.  But then it all... Read more »

Would you have done 2011 differently?

Would you have done 2011 differently?
With the fast approaching New Year, it’s a great time to reflect on what we did right and what we did wrong.  It’s very easy to look back on our youth and think about all the things we would have done differently. It’s hard to look at a more finite period of time and figure... Read more »

Elf on the Elfin' Shelf

Elf on the Elfin' Shelf
How long have I been missing this “Elf on a Shelf” trend?  My nine-year old has been coming home every day raving about the Elf on a Shelf and how wonderful and magical the Elf is – WHY DON’T WE HAVE AN ELF ON THE SHELF!!! I finally broke down and got the Elf the... Read more »

Enough with the political correctness in school

Enough with the political correctness in school
I went to the planning meeting at school for the upcoming holiday party and although I participate every year, this year just made me feel like all the political correctness talk was really getting out of control.  The PTO president starts every year by announcing, No blue, green or red juices or foods.  No specific... Procrastinating shoppers rejoice: you're doing the right thing

Procrastinating shoppers rejoice: you're doing the right thing
When it comes to shopping for the holidays, I consider myself a bit of an expert.  I start looking and making purchases toward the end of August.  I have 5 kids, 6 nieces, 3 nephews and multiple siblings, parents and friends to buy for – I need to treat this like a marathon, not a... Read more »

10 things you might not have thought of to be thankful for

REUSABLE COFFEE CUPS:

I'm not a coffee drinker. However, I have always thought people walking around with a coffee cup in their hand look very cool. They just seem to enjoy it so much and I hate that I was missing that enjoyment. Now I can look just as cool and no one has to know there's pink lemonade in there.
As we reflect on this time of year, it’s pretty easy to say, “I’m thankful for my family, my job, food, a home, etc.”  What I decided to do was dig a little deeper and look at what makes me smile internally on a daily basis.

Sandusky Scandal Reminds Parents to Pay Attention

Sandusky Scandal Reminds Parents to Pay Attention
Youth sports have really taken a beating the last few days in light of the sexual abuse accusations occurring at Penn State.  The more details that are released, the more nauseating it all becomes, but as parents, we can’t stick our heads in the sand and just hope nothing happens to our own children. By... Read more »

Oh, my aching back

Oh, my aching back
Last Christmas, my ever romantic husband got me Xbox .  I love playing games with the kids, so he thought I’d really enjoy Xbox kinect.  I guess it was better than an appliance. We dabbled in a few competitions, but it got really intense on my birthday which was in January.  We had a gaming... Read more »

Would you vote for someone accused of sexual harassement?

Would you vote for someone accused of sexual harassement?
Apparently the answer is yes.  I find it very interesting that with all the bad press Herman Cain is receiving, that his poll numbers dipped just slightly.  Do you think that means people don’t believe his accusers, or that they just don’t care because it has little to do with his ability to run the... All that candy... now what?

All that candy... now what?
Four kids trick or treating times four hours each, equals a truckload of Halloween candy.  Last night they ate with reckless abandon.  I’m not even sure any of them had anything of substance for dinner last night – unless you count the peanuts in the Snickers.  I had no problem with them shoveling it in...
