I try my best to stay out of the political arena. I've worked on campaigns before, but only when I've known the candidate. I've also supported both Democrats and Republicans. Not the most popular stance, but I believe in issues and people, not parties.
With that said, I do have to take a stand on the latest issue making the news. According to the Stir, "the Obama online store is now selling copies of an American flag painting that replaces the 50 stars in the blue field with the president's campaign logo."
This political move really bothers me. In my opinion, it's offensive to those that have given their lives for what the flag means. In fact, I find it arrogant that anyone running for President would endorse this item.
I know the argument is that we fight for the freedom of speech and expression and this is the ultimate test, but I think this is crossing the line. I hope Obama shows the character that he's always displayed in the past and puts an end to this product. This isn't illegal, but does it have to be illegal to be wrong?
