Can't touch this - Live nudes at the MoMA
Marina Abramovic began live nude art in 1977 in Italy. She recently re-created the pieces for The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. There are nude people in different pieces. The whole exhibit is called "Marina Abramivic: The Artist is Present"
The most intriguing seems to be the piece that is called "Imponderabilia". Two nude people stand face to face in a doorway and visitors need to decide whether they will walk through them to get to the next room. There is also a nude with a skeleton lying on top as well as a naked woman on a bicycle seat.
However, the exhibit itself isn't the controversy. Apparently a number of patrons have had to be escorted by security out of the building. The "art" is being poked, pulled and squeezed. So, is this really art, or just a publicity stunt? The exhibit continues through May 31st.
