CELEBRITY SPOTTING: Taking a Break from "Stargazing in Chicago" to Stargaze at the White House

CELEBRITY SPOTTING: Taking a Break from "Stargazing in Chicago" to Stargaze at the White House
To be fair our President has a home in the Hyde Park section of Chicago, Ill. President Barack Obama and First Michelle Obama hosted the 136th Annual Easter Egg Roll. Like Tareq and Michaele Salahi, I won’t be invited to the Lincoln Bedroom. But then I won’t be deemed a White House “party crasher” either.

How I Show My Gay Pride

How I Show My Gay Pride
I grew up in Lincoln Park, a place that for a time I thought was the gayest of neighborhoods because over the 17 years I lived there, everyone who lived on either side of our townhouse seemed to be gay. I mean that in a good way. I also beam with pride because not being... Read more »

'Lt. Dan' Raises Money for Military Veteran and Quadruple Amputee a 'Magic House'

'Lt. Dan' Raises Money for Military Veteran and Quadruple Amputee a 'Magic House'
Just as “Lt. Dan,” his character in the movie Forrest Gump, regained walking ability through what Tom Hanks’ “Gump” called “magic legs,” actor Gary Sinise is attempting to give a real-life veteran Taylor Morris similar independence.  Morris, an explosive ordinance disposal tech, lost all four limbs when he accidentally stepped onto an improvised explosive device... Flashback: My 'Last Dance' with Donna Summer—The Venue in Horseshoe Casino, Hammond, 8/23/09

All Photos By Cindy Barrymore
I was such a sweet, innocent kid growing up in Lincoln Park (still am!) that it never dawned on me or my parents to worry about the music I was listening to. Looking back on the times, there were very few songs that I think would set Tipper Gore off enough to slap them with... Read more »

Scooping the Celebrity Scandal: To Wait For the Facts ... or Not

I don’t know anyone who watches Piers Morgan on CNN because he’s a great interviewer, although sometimes he does conduct some good ones. I watch his show when the network announces that an interesting guest will be on, like William Shatner. I actually enjoyed the interview Morgan did that night with Shatner. He was sufficiently... Cindy Barrymore

I am internationally published, award-winning journalist who has worked in just about every facet of media from TV and film to magazines, promotional materials, newspapers, and books. I currently work as a media consultant, which (in addition to coaching executives in Corporate America) also includes writing and shooting photography for PR and journalistic publication. I have covered entertainment, specifically, since the 1990s, as well as performed as an actor and singer in TV commercials and industrial film, and studied arts, fashion and pop-culture history. My writing has published in such publications as the Chicago Tribune, Us Weekly, Reader’s Digest, Vibe and Circus magazines. My photography has appeared in People, the Daily Beast, OK!, Self, Life and Style, Glamour, and on E!, Wendy Williams Show, and Oxygen, to name a few. I've interviewed celebrities as diverse as Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Kiss, STP, Dio, Kanye West, and Presidents Clinton and Obama. In between blogging for Chicago Now, I also founded my own successful entertainment blog ChicaHollywood.com and have also blogged for VH1. As a kid I once danced on the shows Soul Train and Hangin' with MTV. I have three graduate degrees in communications and continue to further my academic education. (Hopefully, I will finish my PhD this decade!) With this blog, I look forward to making you think and to ask questions. But most importantly I aspire to make you smile. Because hopefully as I do with myself, I do not take those wacky celebrities that seriously.... Kim Kardashian for President! Lindsay Lohan for V.P.
