To Blog or Not to Blog--Holiday Tips from an expert (not me)

To Blog or Not to Blog--Holiday Tips from an expert (not me)

I just read the weekly email from Chicago Now's Community Manager Jimmy Greenfield.  In it, he spoke about the reality of trying to blog/write with holiday doldrums, which are real and a casualty of the season.  He says there are two kinds of bloggers, those who blog and those who don't--nothing in between.  "The holiday doldrums are real, and they’re not spectacular. So how do you get over them? It’s no mystery, you don’t have to write an epic, 3,000-word post, you just need to write. And you need to publish. It’s that simple," said Greenfield.

Well, he's so right....there's all sorts of excuses and, lately, my focus has been on getting my husband Chuck recuped from surgery (which isn't actually an excuse, but I know I haven't been as active as I wanted to be).  I always feel like I need to write "War & Peace" or the post just isn't blog worthy, but the truth is you just need to write.  Be it long, short or in-between, if you don't use it, you lose it.  #FACT

So, here are my thoughts on the New Year.  Thanks for the nudge Jimmy and I hope everyone's year is off to a great start!

2015.  I can hardly believe it....time is flying by so quickly!  Last year already seems like a blur to me.  I have lots of plans for this year and I hope you've made some, too.  I really don't believe in resolutions because, typically, they go unrealized.  I prefer to use the word "plans" because it denotes a solid course of action.  Mostly though, my plans/hopes are more of a sentimental nature rather than a work-oriented one.  I want to slow down a bit and really appreciate what I have, where I've been and where I want to go.  I want to travel more and spend more time with my friends, near and far.  I want to hug my husband and play with my Chihuahuas--oh, I still have my ambitions, but I want to combine them in a more balanced overall package.  I love my work and want to grow it, but I also want to play more, too!  And, I want to blog more....yeah, I sure do.

And, if you want to learn ALL there is to know about blogging and how to launch a blog in a day, don't miss Jimmy's upcoming Blue Sky Innovation presentation on March 10 at Tribune Tower!  Details here.  This class always sells out, so sign up now if you're interested!

Happy 2015 dear readers and thanks for sticking with me!
