For the 3rd annual Primo Classico, tennis legend Jimmy Connors was honored as the Man of Vision at Lake Forest Sportscars before a crowd of more than 300. Hosted by Quintin and Diane Primo, the event benefited the Primo Center for Women & Children that has been offering support and transitional services to the area's homeless for nearly 30 years.
I interviewed Jimmy after the award presentation and he opened up about his life now, his centerfold wife, playing McEnroe (his favorite opponent) and more. (See video below and stay tuned for more of his interview on my Rivet Radio show).
Before the Sunday afternoon event, VIP ticket holders enjoyed a private dinner at the Primo's residence in Lake Forest on Saturday night where they got a chance to mix and mingle with fellow supporters.
The following day, attendees enjoyed exotic cars and tastings from some Chicago's most iconic eateries that included Fig & Olive, Tocco, Basil Leaf Cafe, Gene & Georgetti's, Pelago Ristorante, Travelle, Prosecco Ristorante, The Florentine, Bartaloma, Bella Via, Sugar Hills Bakery, Vosges Haut Chocolate and Angelo Gelato Italiano. It was a smorgasbord of delicious food served up by some of the charity's favorite, most supportive friends and chefs!!
A fashion show, produced by Tracey DiBuono's ZZAZZ Productions, featured fall fashions from Neiman Marcus Michigan Avenue. Models posed on pedestals placed throughout the venue before their final walk across the stage to wild applause.
Primo Classico d'Europa raised more than $400,000 and also honored longtime supporter and board member, Kate Gaynor-Dickey as its Woman of Vision. Its goal: to end the cycle of homelessness, one family at a time. For more info about this worthy non-profit, click here.
