Global Latino Fest Commemorates Hispanic Heritage Month

To commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month,  leaders from across Chicago came together to celebrate, “Global Latino Fest,” a signature event that highlighted the significant contributions of Latinos to American culture. The 9th Annual “Global Latino Fest,”a marquee event that closed out Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15-October 15)  showcased culture, cuisine, arts and entertainment from Argentina, Brazil, Cuba and Mexico.

The event took place at Chicago’s historic Germania Place and supported The Resurrection Project's (TRP) , "La Casa," an initiative that combines affordable housing with support services to help students least likely to graduate from college. “The La Casa Scholarship Fund is going to help many more promising students fulfill their potential and become tomorrow’s leaders,”said Raul Raymundo, CEO of The Resurrection Project.

Cardenas – 12th Ward Alderman, City of Chicago; Gloria Castillo – president, Chicago United; Omar Duque – president and CEO, Illinois Hispanic Chamber; Tsi-tsi-ki Félix–Emmy award-winning TV personality, Univisión América; Jesus “Chuy” Garcia – Cook County Commissioner, 7th District; Andrew Hayes – vice president, Public Relations & Communications, Fifth Third Bank; Rafael Hernandez – vice president, DENCO; Matthew “Mateo” Katz – Attorney, Katz Law Office, LTD; Sherren Leigh – president/publisher, "Today’s Chicago Woman"; Chris McDonnell – president & general manager, Telemundo Chicago; Cheryl Pearson McNeil – senior vice president, Public Affairs, The Nielsen Company; Ricardo “Rick” Munoz –22nd Ward Alderman, City of Chicago; Toni Preckwinkle – president, Cook County Board of Commissioners and John Trainor – General Manager, Hoy Chicago.  (Photos by Augustine Marron).
