"An Evening With Bill Cosby" will Benefit Urban Prep Academies

America's favorite TV dad, Bill Cosby, will bring his comic genius to Chicago for a benefit for Urban Prep Academies on Sunday, June 30, at the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place, 175 E. Chestnut, beginning at 5 p.m.  Urban Prep caught Cosby's attention when he heard that 100% of its seniors, all African-American males and mostly from low-income families, were accepted to four-year colleges and universities.  The following year, he delivered a heartfelt video message to the graduates at Commencement and now he will be in town to support these wonderful schools with an "Evening of Comedy."

Urban Prep Academies was founded in 2002 by Tim King and a group of African-American education, business and civic leaders who wanted to improve the educational opportunities available to urban males. In 2006, this nonprofit organization opened the country’s first public charter high school for boys: Urban Prep Charter Academy for Young Men--Englewood Campus. Urban Prep has been recognized internationally for its success in improving the academic, social and emotional development of urban young men. Currently, Urban Prep operates three schools in high need Chicago communities.

I hope you can be a part of this memorable night for a great cause with one of TV's most enduring legends.  Tickets are $100 and $250 (premium seating) and all proceeds will go to support Urban Prep's students and programs.   If you have any questions, contact Ed Briscoe (ebriscoe@urbanprep.org)  or call 312-276-0259 ext. 1106.
