For WTTW11 and 98.7WFMT’s annual benefit, this year themed “The British Are Coming,” Oscar, Tony, Golden Globe, and Emmy-winning actor Jeremy Irons will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
The event will highlight the significant influence of British arts and culture on WTTW11 and 98.7WFMT programming and mark the year of Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 London Olympics. The evening will include a special 60-minute onstage celebration at the Harris Theater, hosted by Irons and featuring award-winning British actor Simon Callow, best known for his roles in Four Weddings and a Funeral, A Room With a View, and Howards End, and for his one-man stage show, Being Shakespeare, coming to the Chicago Shakespeare Theater at the Broadway Playhouse for a limited run on April 18. Also appearing will be members of The Joffrey Ballet, Fulcrum Point New Music Project Brass, Under the Streetlamp, and The Chicago Children’s Choir, plus other surprises.
