It was a sell-out crowd at an exclusive private club recently for Hazel Barr's much deserved tribute benefitting the Stanley Paul-Raelene Mittelman Scholarship Fund. Hazel's contributions to Chicago's philanthropic community are unparalleled and legendary so it's no wonder the room was packed with friends and fans who came out to celebrate her and her remarkable achievements. Emcee Bill Zwecker introduced the toasters who included Myra Reilly, Mark Heister, Mary Pat Burns, Bunky Cushing and me. The Palmer House's Ken Price was scheduled to speak but, at the last minute, couldn't attend. He had this to say, "Hazel is the gold standard for others to hold themselves to when it comes to selfless commitment to a cause. Hazel Barr wll soon be in the dictionary--not as a name but as an adjective to describe unbridled success." I couldn't have said it better....Long may she reign!
