98.7WFMT, Chicago's Classical Experience, celebrated its 60th year on the air with a one-night only benefit celebration at the Harris Theater. Acclaimed mezzo-soprano, Susan Graham, served as Mistress of Ceremonies for the stage performance that included multi-platinum Israeli singer/songwriter/guitarist David Broza, Grammy-winning folk star Shawn Colvin, renowned African-American a cappella group Sweet Honey in the Rock and popular Chicago-based folk trio Sons of the Never Wrong. Also featured were the Chicago Children's Choir and the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra. Renee and Lester Crown were event chairs for this talent laden evening that attracted 1200 supporters to the performance and 500 to the fabulous Rooftop dinner catered by George Jewell. The evening raised $1.1 million which will enable 98.7WFMT and WTTW to continue to provide the best and broadest selection of clasical music and fine arts programming in the country. It was a wonderful night for the arts in Chicago! Happy 60th Birthday! (Photos by Caitlin Saville).
