Our own Chef Art Smith competed in Bravo's Top Chef Masters' Challenge last night! He won the first round beating out Chefs Roy Yamaguchi, Michael Cimarusti and Jonathan Waxman. They had to create a dish using a mystery box of ingredients. Art's dish of fried and Southern style smothered chicken looked mouth-watering but I think his personality and charm put him over the top with the judges. As Art emailed me after his win, "It was like losing every ounce of my religion worrying about the dishes, time and the judges. Well, God won! I am so appreciative of my Chicago family who rooted me along on my victory!"
He celebrated with a "big" fried chicken victory party in Beverly Hills last night with lots of guests including the CEO of Magical Elves who produces Top Chef, Top Chef Masters, Project Runway and the Design Show as well as other Chef Masters. By winning this round, he goes onto the Finals with the chance of winning $100,000 for Common Threads!! We are ALL rooting for you Art!!!! GOOD LUCK and may your knives stay sharp!
