The hardest part of my experience with cancer has been the waiting. Whether it’s waiting to see a doctor or waiting to get a test result, cancer is a slow, anxious journey.
Of all the waiting I’ve done, waiting for my biopsy results was the worst.
My tumor was removed on a Wednesday. Monday was Labor Day. If you count from noon Wednesday to noon Tuesday, the day I finally got in touch with my doctor for the results, six days had passed. One at a time, 518,400 seconds ticked by, some of them thudding, others piercing. They were among the worst of my life.
