Bulls D-League team embarrasses fans, Wizards - CHI 109, WAS 104
The Bulls picked the perfect day to announce the name of their new D-League franchise (the Windy City Bulls) that will begin play next season, as a team full of D-League caliber players placed seven guys in double figures in a 109-104 win over the Wizards on Wednesday. Capping off a week that saw the... Read more »

Joakim Noah fined, four Wizards suspended for Monday's skirmish
Wizards’ players DeJuan Blair, Nene, Daniel Orton and Xavier Silas were suspended one game for leaving the bench area during an altercation between Chicago Bulls’ center Joakim Noah and Washington Wizards’ forward Paul Pierce. Additionally, Noah has been fined $15,000 for initiating an altercation with Pierce by pushing him in the chest and Pierce has... Read more »

Nikola Mirotic shows Bulls fans that he was worth the wait in a very successful debut - HIGHLIGHTS
Nikola Mirotic was drafted by the Bulls with the 23rd pick of the 2011 NBA draft, knowing full well that it would be at least three years before he could even put on a Bulls uniform. That was on June 23, 2011, literally just hours after he had put up 37 points with 8 rebounds... Read more »

Paying the NBA luxury tax for a winner- the truth behind the myth

Paying the NBA luxury tax for a winner- the truth behind the myth
I guess to the untrained eye, it makes sense that the team that spends the most money on players and pays the NBA luxury tax will have the best team. After all, the best players make the most money, so if your team spends the most money, they should have more good players, right? Wrong.... Read more »

Bulls season ends, plenty of blame to go around

Bulls season ends, plenty of blame to go around
The Bulls’ season mercifully came to an end Tuesday night when they dropped a 75-69 decision to the Wizards in the United Center. The Bulls struggled shooting the ball all season long, but two main themes were the cause of their elimination loss- missed layups and missed defensive rebounds. The official play by play was... Wizards 98, Bulls 89- Bulls refuse to score, Thibs refuses to adjust

Wizards 98, Bulls 89- Bulls refuse to score, Thibs refuses to adjust
At this point, I am not sure what Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau is waiting for. Hinrich can’t make a shot, Augustin is afraid to shoot a 3, and Butler refuses to drive strong to the basket, preferring to keep firing away from behind the arc. He has one of the best shooters in the world-... Read more »

Nene suspended for Game 4, Bulls must win this one

Nene suspended for Game 4, Bulls must win this one
The NBA announced that Wizards’ forward Maybyner Rodney Hilario (commonly known as Nene) has been suspended for Game 4 of the Bulls/Wizards Eastern Conference 1st-round playoff series. Nene was ejected with 8:28 left in Game 3 for head-butting and grabbing the neck of Jimmy Butler. I’m not sure which is bigger- the fact that Mr.... Read more »

Bulls 100, Wizards 97- Dunleavy saves the season, Bulls win in spite of Thibs

Bulls 100, Wizards 97- Dunleavy saves the season, Bulls win in spite of Thibs
Box Score Just for the record, I started writing this with 1:35 left in the 4th quarter, and Taj Gibson shooting the 2nd of two free throws (after he missed the first) to tie the game, so I’m not sure the Bulls lost this game yet. But even if they wind up winning, I’m officially... Read more »

5 reasons the Bulls still have a chance

5 reasons the Bulls still have a chance
I’m pretty sure the overwhelming majority of Bulls fans have already written off their series against the Wizards, and if you’ve watched the first two games, it’s pretty hard to argue with them. The Bulls defense has been atrocious, and late in games, their offense has been downright offensive. But I’m an optimist at heart,... Read more »

Wizards 101, Bulls 99 in OT- Hinrich chokes

Wizards 101, Bulls 99 in OT- Hinrich chokes
Game 2 Box Score The Bulls’ season may not be over, but it’s at the very last commercial before the end of the show. They once again blew a double-digit lead in the 2nd half- this one in the final seven minutes- and lost Game 2 of their first-round playoff series against the Washington Wizards.... Read more »

Don Ellis started covering sports professionally when he was 15. The same year (1980), as a student assistant at Seeger Memorial High School in West Lebanon, IN, he was one of the first in the world to use, study and implement analytics in basketball. He attended Daytona State College and Ball State University, and some of his past credits include InsideHoops (NBA Runaround: The NBA According to Ellis) and ESPN Florida (The Florida Sports Reporters), where he was fortunate enough to work with many rising stars, including NFL Network's Dan Hellie, Redskins coach Jay Gruden, Magic radio and TV personality Dante Marchitelli, and WSB-TV (Atlanta) Sports Director Zach Klein. In addition to running the Bullsville blog and officiating basketball, baseball and football for the KHSAA, he is also a bass player and vocalist who writes and produces music in his spare time (you may remember his internet hit "I Hate Eddy Curry"). He's a 3rd-generation Cubs fan, a Bulls fan since the days of Van Lier and Sloan, and a life-long New England Patriots fan. He's seen Primus 9 times and thinks Les Claypool walks on water. By far his greatest accomplishment is being a father of three and grandfather of one.
