Jimmy Butler to Minnesota? Thibs could actually make it work

Jimmy Butler to Minnesota? Thibs could actually make it work
In what might be the most unsurprising NBA trade rumor ever, new Timberwolves coach/GM/president/hall monitor/generalissimo Tom Thibodeau is apparently interested in making a trade to bring Jimmy Butler to the Twin Cities. Like Bullsville on Facebook Marc Stein first broke the story on Twitter: Story going online now with @chadfordinsider: Wolves making No. 5 overall... Read more »

Bulls hang on to beat Jazz

Bulls hang on to beat Jazz
Derrick Rose actually played last night as the Bulls built an early lead before hanging on to beat the Jazz 97-95. I guess Bulls fans should be happy that Rose managed to play 25 minutes without getting hurt, though personally I am more concerned with Thibs wearing out Jimmy Butler. Jimmy played 44 minutes last... Read more »

Nikola Mirotic should ask for a trade

Nikola Mirotic should ask for a trade
Nikola Mirotic paid a $3 million buyout so he could come to the NBA this season to play for the Bulls. He should either ask for a trade, or ask Tom Thibodeau to reimburse his expenses. Thibs is wasting away his rookie season, when he should be the runaway leader right now for Rookie of... Read more »

Thibs watches officials hand Kings a win over Bulls

Thibs watches officials hand Kings a win over Bulls
Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau must be a closet Sacramento fan, because he stood there and let the officials hand the Kings a victory over the Bulls Thursday night. At least Joakim Noah showed that he has a pair, picking up a well-deserved technical after getting called for his complete bullshit fifth foul on a Demarcus... Read more »

Chicago Bulls preseason game 2 - Pistons win in overtime

Chicago Bulls preseason game 2 - Pistons win in overtime
Chicago Bulls’ shooting guard Jimmy Butler had an outstanding game, living in the low post against smaller Detroit guards to the tune of 18 points on 7/9 shooting. But he didn’t have much help. Joakim Noah took the night off, Derrick Rose once again sat out the entire 2nd half, and Nikola Mirotic fouled out... Read more »

Nikola Mirotic impressive in Bulls' camp debut

Nikola Mirotic impressive in Bulls' camp debut
Nikola Mirotic, the Bulls “rookie” who is far from your average NBA rookie, is turning heads early in training camp, according to the Bulls’ (with all due respect to newcomer Pau Gasol) “Big Three” – Tom Thibodeau, Joakim Noah, and Derrick Rose. For those of you who have been living under a rock for the... Read more »

Derrick Rose, Team USA ready for FIBA World Cup elimination round
Derrick Rose still can’t make a shot to save his life, but thankfully he’s only a role player on this year’s Team USA that is four wins away from capturing the championship of the 2014 FIBA World Cup of Basketball. The most important detail for Bulls fans so far is that Rose made it through... Read more »

Gasol Bulls are favorites in the East, at least according to Pau
The Pau Gasol Bulls are favorites to win the Eastern Conference, according to the man himself. In an interview with Spanish website Marca.com, Gasol touched on many topics, including whether or not he thought he could win another ring with the Bulls: Of course I can be a champion in Chicago. If not, I would... Read more »

Chris Webber Bulls comments are just ridiculous

Chris Webber Bulls comments are just ridiculous
Chris Webber, Bulls fans are not happy with you right about now. You apparently felt the need to make some disparaging comments about the Bulls’ lack of offense while he was appearing onĀ ”The Herd with Colin Cowherd” on ESPN Radio. According to the latest Chris Webber Bulls comments, coach Tom Thibodeau is a great defensive... Read more »

Melo as a free agent AND trade for Love? Bulls can do it

Melo as a free agent AND trade for Love? Bulls can do it
Can the Bulls sign Carmelo Anthony as a free agent (without a sign and trade) and then have enough assets left to trade for Kevin Love? A reader sent me that question (kudos to Jay Sparkz), but when he asked, it was with the attached condition that Melo sign for the same salary as Derrick... Read more »

Don Ellis started covering sports professionally when he was 15. The same year (1980), as a student assistant at Seeger Memorial High School in West Lebanon, IN, he was one of the first in the world to use, study and implement analytics in basketball. He attended Daytona State College and Ball State University, and some of his past credits include InsideHoops (NBA Runaround: The NBA According to Ellis) and ESPN Florida (The Florida Sports Reporters), where he was fortunate enough to work with many rising stars, including NFL Network's Dan Hellie, Redskins coach Jay Gruden, Magic radio and TV personality Dante Marchitelli, and WSB-TV (Atlanta) Sports Director Zach Klein. In addition to running the Bullsville blog and officiating basketball, baseball and football for the KHSAA, he is also a bass player and vocalist who writes and produces music in his spare time (you may remember his internet hit "I Hate Eddy Curry"). He's a 3rd-generation Cubs fan, a Bulls fan since the days of Van Lier and Sloan, and a life-long New England Patriots fan. He's seen Primus 9 times and thinks Les Claypool walks on water. By far his greatest accomplishment is being a father of three and grandfather of one.
