Bulls play no defense, lose 129-111 in Miami

Bulls play no defense, lose 129-111 in Miami
The Bulls apparently had a big night out planned for South Beach, as they couldn’t be bothered to expend any energy playing defense during Tuesday’s 129-111 loss to the Heat. Bulls/Heat Box Score The Heat’s 129 points were the most they have scored in a game all season, and their 67.5% shooting from the field... Read more »

Bulls avoid luxury tax, but it was NOT their #1 priority

Bulls avoid luxury tax, but it was NOT their #1 priority
Bulls avoid luxury tax is not really news, since it has been widely reported for over two months that the team would almost certainly stay under the tax threshold as soon as Erik Murphy was claimed by the Utah Jazz after the Bulls waived him. But for some strange reason, the overwhelming majority of Bulls... Read more »

Jerry Reinsdorf is cheap- the facts behind the myth

Jerry Reinsdorf is cheap- the facts behind the myth
Bill Simmons’ latest shot at Bulls management- which I covered yesterday– has once again brought the “Jerry Reinsdorf is cheap” discussion back to the internet. It’s always quite the comical discussion, because it leads to all kinds of ignorant people throwing in their uneducated two cents worth with all kinds of “examples” of Reinsdorf’s miserly... According to Bill Simmons Bulls are cheap
Bill Simmons Bulls bashing continues, as in a May 22 Grantland article he deeply insinuates that Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf is more concerned with profits than winning. Deng sits, Bulls suck- Marquis Teague, Nazr Mohammed only positives

Deng sits, Bulls suck- Marquis Teague, Nazr Mohammed only positives
Luol Deng sat out Saturday’s game vs Detroit with a sore calf, and it finally caught up with the Bulls as they got blown out in the 2nd half by the Pistons, losing 92-75 in a game where most of the team sucked. Nazr Mohammed only played six minutes, and his two points, two rebounds... Read more »

Deng, Teague lead Bulls past Heat

Deng, Teague lead Bulls past Heat
No tank for you!! That was certainly the message the Bulls sent on TNT Thursday night, thoroughly dominating the final 47 minutes of a 107-87 win over the Miami Heat. LeBron James came out looking to send a message, taking a rebound all the way for a layup and then grabbing a steal and going all... Read more »

Luol Deng, Nikola Mirotic continue to dominate; Bulls continue to lose

Luol Deng, Nikola Mirotic continue to dominate; Bulls continue to lose
Luol Deng continued his upward scoring trend since Derrick Rose got hurt, scoring 37 points while adding 8 rebounds and 7 assists in last night’s triple overtime thriller against New Orleans at the United Center. Unfortunately, the Bulls’ offense broke down on too many occasions down the stretch, struggling with horrible spacing and some bad... Read more »

Bulls fall to Cavs: Deng creating offense for himself and others, Snell shines again

Bulls fall to Cavs: Deng creating offense for himself and others, Snell shines again
After sleepwalking through the first half, the Bulls fought all the way back from a 15-point deficit to take a fourth-quarter lead in Cleveland on Saturday. Unfortunately, a few bad turnovers allowed the Cavs to regain the lead before holding on for a 97-95 victory. The loss wasn’t a surprise, as the team was obviously drained... Read more »

Luol Deng, superstar?

Luol Deng, superstar?
Most people don’t associate “Luol Deng” and “superstar” in the same breath, but fully healthy for the first time in three years- and without Derrick Rose for the rest of the season- the man from Sudan is making a bid to become even more highly sought-after when his contract expires July 1, 2014. Historically, Deng... Read more »

Don Ellis started covering sports professionally when he was 15. The same year (1980), as a student assistant at Seeger Memorial High School in West Lebanon, IN, he was one of the first in the world to use, study and implement analytics in basketball. He attended Daytona State College and Ball State University, and some of his past credits include InsideHoops (NBA Runaround: The NBA According to Ellis) and ESPN Florida (The Florida Sports Reporters), where he was fortunate enough to work with many rising stars, including NFL Network's Dan Hellie, Redskins coach Jay Gruden, Magic radio and TV personality Dante Marchitelli, and WSB-TV (Atlanta) Sports Director Zach Klein. In addition to running the Bullsville blog and officiating basketball, baseball and football for the KHSAA, he is also a bass player and vocalist who writes and produces music in his spare time (you may remember his internet hit "I Hate Eddy Curry"). He's a 3rd-generation Cubs fan, a Bulls fan since the days of Van Lier and Sloan, and a life-long New England Patriots fan. He's seen Primus 9 times and thinks Les Claypool walks on water. By far his greatest accomplishment is being a father of three and grandfather of one.
