Rose is done for the playoffs- are the Bulls?

Rose is done for the playoffs- are the Bulls?
No, they aren’t. Can they still win an NBA championship this spring? Almost certainly not. Can they still win this series against the Sixers? I fully expect them to. Can they still beat either Atlanta or (most likely) Boston in the next round? Yes, they can. Can they still beat the Heat and get to... Read more »

Bulls vs Raptors, 3/24/12, 7 PM CT, WGN America: Game Preview, Rose Still Out
The Bulls will face Toronto Raptors tonight for the second consecutive game, looking for their NBA-high 40th win of the season. Derrick Rose is still out, but according to Bulls Confidential he has started running in water, which is the first step toward getting back in the lineup. The Bulls played a pretty pedestrian three... Read more »

Bulls at Raptors Game Preview: 3/21/12, 6 PM CT, WCIU
The Bulls are in Toronto tonight to take on the Raptors (6 PM CT, WCIU). Derrick Rose is expected to sit out his fifth consecutive game with a sore groin, but in all honesty the Bulls should be able to win this one without him. The only question is which of the “non-big 3” are... Read more »

Will the Bulls Trade Boozer to the Lakers for Gasol?

Will the Bulls Trade Boozer to the Lakers for Gasol?
I’m not one to start- or believe, for that matter- crazy trade rumors. You read and hear so much noise that most of it just goes in one ear and out the other. But this one might be different. Someone I trust told me a few days ago that he heard the Bulls were looking... Read more »

Bulls vs Celtics Game Preview, 2/16/2012, Plus a Little on the Kings Game

Bulls vs Celtics Game Preview, 2/16/2012, Plus a Little on the Kings Game
First of all, let me apologize for the lack of articles the past two days. I was in northwest Indiana taking care of a personal matter (OK, my divorce), and I haven’t been able to post. But I got back home last night, I’m only a judge’s signature away from being a single man, and... Read more »

Bulls at Celtics Game Recap 2/12/12: Rondo's Triple-Double Leads Boston to 95-91 Win

Bulls at Celtics Game Recap 2/12/12: Rondo's Triple-Double Leads Boston to 95-91 Win
Rajon Rondo had a triple-double, posting season highs in points and assists, and the Boston Celtics ended the Bulls’ 5-game winning streak with a 95-91 win in the TD Garden on Sunday. I’m not one to blame a loss on one player- Wes Welker in Super Bowl 46 excluded- but CJ Watson certainly has to... Read more »

Bulls at Bobcats Game Recap: No Rose, No Problem

Bulls at Bobcats Game Recap: No Rose, No Problem
The Bulls continued their dominance of the NBA’s bad teams Friday night, blowing out the Charlotte Bobcats 95-64 without Derrick Rose, who sat out to rest his sore back. The Bulls extended their NBA record by winning their 4th consecutive road game by 20+ points. They are now 5-1 on the year when Rose doesn’t... Read more »

Rose Out Against Memphis

Derrick Rose tested his sprained toe in warmups, but apparently it wasn’t feeling up to the task so he and the training staff decided that he would sit out today’s matinee in Memphis. That means John Lucas III gets his second start as a Bull- and while another 25/8/8 game would be awesome, hopefully it... Read more »

Rose Expected to Play Tonight Vs Celtics

Sam Smith and ESPN are reporting that Derrick Rose, while still in a walking boot today, plans to play tonight as the Bulls travel to Boston to play the Celtics. If you are reading this, I don’t have to tell you how huge this is for the Bulls. Yes, they beat the Wizards without Derrick,... Read more »

Don Ellis started covering sports professionally when he was 15. The same year (1980), as a student assistant at Seeger Memorial High School in West Lebanon, IN, he was one of the first in the world to use, study and implement analytics in basketball. He attended Daytona State College and Ball State University, and some of his past credits include InsideHoops (NBA Runaround: The NBA According to Ellis) and ESPN Florida (The Florida Sports Reporters), where he was fortunate enough to work with many rising stars, including NFL Network's Dan Hellie, Redskins coach Jay Gruden, Magic radio and TV personality Dante Marchitelli, and WSB-TV (Atlanta) Sports Director Zach Klein. In addition to running the Bullsville blog and officiating basketball, baseball and football for the KHSAA, he is also a bass player and vocalist who writes and produces music in his spare time (you may remember his internet hit "I Hate Eddy Curry"). He's a 3rd-generation Cubs fan, a Bulls fan since the days of Van Lier and Sloan, and a life-long New England Patriots fan. He's seen Primus 9 times and thinks Les Claypool walks on water. By far his greatest accomplishment is being a father of three and grandfather of one.
