NCAA Tournament Mid-Major Player to Watch: Isaiah Canaan, Murray State
UPDATE: Here’s a piece I did on newest Bull Isaiah Cannan when he was a senior at Murray State: If you’ve never heard of Murray State guard Isaiah Canaan, I highly suggest that you watch the Racers’ NCAA Tournament opener today against Colorado State. With Butler making it to the Final Four the last two... Read more »

Bulls trade Derrick Rose to Knicks - here are your keys to the team, Mr. Butler
Derrick Rose has been traded. To the Knicks. Along with Justin Holiday and a 2nd-round pick, in exchange for Robin Lopez, Jose Calderon and Jerian Grant. Like Bullsville on Facebook My first thought when my uncle told me was “I can’t believe they did it”. Then I thought “there’s another GarPax criticism down the tubes”.... Read more »

Bulls trade Cameron Bairstow for Spencer Dinwiddie

Bulls trade Cameron Bairstow for Spencer Dinwiddie
The Bulls have made their first move of the offseason, acquiring PG Spencer Dinwiddie from the Pistons in exchange for big man Cameron Bairstow. Dinwiddie is a 6’6″ PG from the University of Colorado, and his NBA career (stats) has been underwhelming to say the least… except for his only career start, which coincidently enough... Read more »

Jimmy Butler to Minnesota? Thibs could actually make it work

Jimmy Butler to Minnesota? Thibs could actually make it work
In what might be the most unsurprising NBA trade rumor ever, new Timberwolves coach/GM/president/hall monitor/generalissimo Tom Thibodeau is apparently interested in making a trade to bring Jimmy Butler to the Twin Cities. Like Bullsville on Facebook Marc Stein first broke the story on Twitter: Story going online now with @chadfordinsider: Wolves making No. 5 overall... Read more »

Derrick Rose for Nerlens Noel... just do it, Gar Forman

Derrick Rose for Nerlens Noel... just do it, Gar Forman
As I pointed out in a recent article, the Bulls really need to move on from the Derrick Rose era. While he feels he is still an All-Star, all of the statistics, both traditional and advanced, show that he is, for the most part, a liability on the floor at this stage of his career.... Read more »

Has Jimmy Butler become LeBron?

Has Jimmy Butler become LeBron?
I know a lot of folks are going to freak out, but the one thing I noticed in this lost Bulls season is that if you take away Derrick Rose, Jimmy Butler morphs into LeBron James. I understand that many Bulls fans still believe that Derrick Rose can return to his MVP form, but it... Read more »

A funny anti-Bulls front office story

A funny anti-Bulls front office story
The Bulls beat the Nets on Thursday, 118-102, which comes as no surprise whatsoever… and while I’m sure we all enjoyed the game, it was pretty boring for the most part. So I figured I’d share a comical story that gave me quite a good laugh when I was reading the RealGM Bulls Forum after the game... Read more »

It's official - Bulls own the Raptors

It's official - Bulls own the Raptors
While I haven’t been able to confirm whether it’s a cash deal or if they took out a mortgage, the Bulls now officially own the Toronto Raptors. Playing without Pau Gasol (knee), Mike Dunleavy (stomach virus) and Derrick Rose (who keeps track after all these years), the Bulls were still able to go north of... Read more »

Don Ellis started covering sports professionally when he was 15. The same year (1980), as a student assistant at Seeger Memorial High School in West Lebanon, IN, he was one of the first in the world to use, study and implement analytics in basketball. He attended Daytona State College and Ball State University, and some of his past credits include InsideHoops (NBA Runaround: The NBA According to Ellis) and ESPN Florida (The Florida Sports Reporters), where he was fortunate enough to work with many rising stars, including NFL Network's Dan Hellie, Redskins coach Jay Gruden, Magic radio and TV personality Dante Marchitelli, and WSB-TV (Atlanta) Sports Director Zach Klein. In addition to running the Bullsville blog and officiating basketball, baseball and football for the KHSAA, he is also a bass player and vocalist who writes and produces music in his spare time (you may remember his internet hit "I Hate Eddy Curry"). He's a 3rd-generation Cubs fan, a Bulls fan since the days of Van Lier and Sloan, and a life-long New England Patriots fan. He's seen Primus 9 times and thinks Les Claypool walks on water. By far his greatest accomplishment is being a father of three and grandfather of one.
