*Note* I was not able to upload this until after the alloted time, but rest assured, this only took me 1/2 hour*
Hey kids! Uncle Shawn here. My goal for the Chicago Now Blog-a-palooza, if I chose to accept it (and clearly I did) was to give advice to anyone, anything, at any point in life. Well, at this stage in the game, I can't think of anyone less qualified than myself to be doling out life advice. With this one exception: Like a wise man once said "Don't stop til ya get enough." And, as Bon Qui Qui said "Have it your way, but don't get crazy."
Anyways. I've spent the last few years reading and re-reading the tales of one of the greatest super heros of all time: Wonder Woman. Since she's literally been gifted with the wisdom of Athena, I figured I'd relay some messages she's given to myself, and countless others in their time of hope, despair, triumph, and tragedy.
"Keep faith. Trust to Love. Fight with honor, but fight to win."
“If it means interfering in an ensconced, outdated system, to help just one woman, man or child…I’m willing to accept the consequences.”
"It’s unfair to judge yourself by the criterion of age. A vital, intelligent woman is much more than the sum of her birthdays."
"Grief is better shared in the light. Standing in the dark speaks of guilt."
"I'm just an ordinary Amazon, but I feel that I can do things, so - I can do them!"
"Pullin' a knife is bad manners, mister! Try being sweet instead!"
"Being a normal, everyday chick has certain drawbacks!"
"It is the Amazon's Code to help anyone in need, even a woman hater!"
"If the prospect of living in a world where trying to respect the basic rights of those around you and valuing each other simply because we exist is such a daunting task, then what sort of world are we left with? And what sort of world do you want to live in?"
"We Amazons have a saying: Today is not tomorrow."
"Then again, there is cake. And that excuses much."
I'm on a deadline, so I gotta split. Hope this helps you as much as it's helped me.
