For Father's Day, My 11 Favorite TV Dads

On Mother's Day, I posted my choices of 11 Favorite TV Moms, so it seemed that TV Dads would be appropriate today. (I almost switched to something about Clarence Clemons but penned this tribute on my SethSaith blog and invite you to read it if interested.)

Some of the most famous television fathers were a bit before my time and I never watched enough reruns to sufficiently appreciate Andy Taylor (Andy Griffith, at left, The Andy Griffith Show), Ward Cleaver (Hugh Beaumont, Leave It To Beaver), Steve Douglas (Fred MacMurray, My Three Sons), Jim Anderson (Robert Young, Father Knows Best) or Tom Corbett (Bill Bixby, Courtship of Eddie's Father).

While some of my picks readily appear on other such lists, others are more obscure choices of fathers I've personally enjoyed on TV series, even if not all that famous. Some of these embody truly great dads, but others make my cut more so for just being great paternal characters.

Here's wishing you or yours a Happy Father's Day while offering a rundown of "My 11 Favorite TV Dads."
