Our 2011 Oscar Predictions

by Steven Leventhal and David Schuster

Best Picture  -  David liked "The King's Speech" and my personal choice would have been "Social Network." But I think David is right.

- David felt that the director award would go hand in hand with the Best Picture, but I disagree thinking this is where David Fincher will win out of relative newcomer Tom Hooper for his effort at the helm of "Social Network."

Actor - barring a major upset, this will in all likelihood go to Colin Firth.

Actress - we both predict that Natalie Portman will walk away with this one.

Supporting Actor
- David feels that Geoffrey Rush deserves it for the "King's Speech" but I disagree, thinking that Christian Bale will win for "The Fighter."

Support Actress - I thought that Hailee Steinfeld was terrific in "True Grit," but agree that David's pick of Melissa Leo is a good bet.

Original Screenplay
- The Academy will probably make up for its oversight of Christopher Nolan in the director category and reward his screenplay for "Inception."

Adapted Screen - this has always been Aaron Sorkin's (Social Network) to lose.

Enjoy the telecast.
