John Lennon - Thirty Years and One Day Later

John Lennon - Thirty Years and One Day Later

I was pondering what to write about when it occurred to me that one day just didn't seem to be enough time to pay tribute to John Lennon, someone who had an enormous influence on a vast number of my contemporaries (read old fogies.)

I'll never forget where I was (my college fraternity house) when we got the word that fateful Monday night in December 1980.

Ever since I heard "Revolution" when I was eight years old, I was hooked.  Most of my friends got depressed when The Beatles broke up, and hopeful at every chance there might be some kind of reunion.  Well, now with both John and George Harrison gone, it will never happen.

Just as John was on the verge of a comeback from his self-imposed home exile, he was gunned down.

Here are two of my favorite John compositions.
